Guest Silverwings Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 Received and e-mail today about this event from the organiser Sheila Minchin regarding her endeavours to set up an evening course at our local college. The course is aimed at introducing racing pigeons to new starters and novices. This course is believed to be the first of it's kind offered by a college in the UK on the subject of racing pigeons, definitely a step in the right direction for our sport. Existing fanciers are invited to the launch and if possible to bring along a non-fancier to the event (scheduled for the 29th of October). Both TV and press have been contacted by the college so any support we can give her would be most welcome........... Ray.
Guest Gareth Rankin Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 New approach to gaining new members in the sport which is fantastic.
showman Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 Brilliant idea....best wishes to all concerned.
Fair Play Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 Cracking idea do you think it could be replicated throughout the country as there are plenty of top class fanciers up and down the UK and not just open to new fanciers as we are never too old to learn. The big question is would the "Masters" be happy to impart their secrets to the rank anf file, don't think so but still a lot to learn so all in all great start. The RPRA should hang their head in shame or at least pay expenses
the dude Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 really do hope this is a winner if so could be carried out all over country fantastic idea :) :)
Blue Chequer Pied Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 What a refreshing idea. Hopefully it will take off and can be run in colleges all over the country. I am sure there will be plenty of people willing to facilitate the courses. Paul.
BLACK W F Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 brilliant idea hope we get some good coverage
Guest Thunder Birds Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 Great idea! Let's hope it's a success!
pjc Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 Hopefully Ray will update us on how it goes and then hopefully it can be introduced into other colleges. When its a success the RPRA will claim they instigated it ;D ;D ;D
fletch Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 only 10 mins away may pop up to see what its all about
pjc Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 i hope as many locals as poss will suport it and show that fanciers are not only interested in these events but maybe willing to mentor any interested students.
fletch Posted October 19, 2009 Report Posted October 19, 2009 i hope as many locals as poss will suport it and show that fanciers are not only interested in these events but maybe willing to mentor any interested students. i do feel that the only way forward for our sport is attract new members in modern day ways such has the above idea also the rpra website could be more informative in the ways of all pigeon aspects, as when you go into googgle and type in anything to do with pigeons nearly every time this forum comes up as one of the top links, i know thats good for this site but surely a good informative website with all major aspects of pigeons would be good too as if i need to find anything out my first call of port is the internet and for me is the modern way of thinking and if any modern people will want to know about pigeons they will go to the internet
Guest Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 The very best of luck in a cracking venture, hope it is a massive success.
