There are wild ones but they come from the hand reared stock.

if you shoot 40-50% of the birds released your doing well,on my shoot we have a lot of wild bred birds you see them with there chicks walking around the shoot

we tagged all the released birds 1 year and as you say only got 40% in the bag.

The other 60% would either end up as fox food or road kills,the roads in this area are littered with them.

most come out the rearing pens mate released into local woodland then hopper fed to keep them in the area

i can the game taste off a wild phesent is a lot stronger also i think the meat is a little darker

there not truely wild pheasants.There not native to this country and the ones that are  not raised in the pens usually end up hanging round them for the food
