Ian McKay Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 2010 Pigeon Fanciers Arson / Criminal Damage Fund. The 2010 Pigeon Fanciers / Criminal Damage Fund will be set up to provide financial support to fanciers when circumstances arise. The aim of the fund is to promote the sport in such that we retain as many participants as possible. The 2010 Pigeon Fund is in aid of pigeon fanciers that have unfortunately fallen victim to an act of arson, or criminal damage towards lofts, or other pigeon racing equipment. The fund is overseen by a committee of five members of the Pigeonbasics.com Forum. Their role is to decide upon applications; and also to promote and uphold the integrity of the fund. If you have any questions, or comments please email ian.mckay@btinternet.com Members will be asked if they wish to continue if not I will ask members to apply for the committee. (subject to a max of 5) I will auction birds through Pigeon Basics on a regular basis and according to demands. Applications may be made by anyone who is the victim of arson / criminal damage on their pigeon loft; for the purpose of getting them setup again in the sport. An application will be required to be agreed upon by all members of the committee to reach a decision of acceptance. The committee will decide upon giving a sum to an applicant; a 100% agreement will be needed. You will then be asked which level. There will be two levels: A) £300. £500 a majority on which level will suffice. I'll accept applications to my home address; and will deal with money in-out. The fund will run continuously. The account will be held at RBS Queens Cross Branch Aberdeen on a treasurer’s account requiring two signatures on all cheques of which I am not one. The account will be available for all committee members to view on the general board. All transactions will be deposited ASAP on the account. This will depend on who the cheques are made out to or which Pay Pal account is used but will be posted in Red until cashed. Donations will be accepted at any time. Vallance or Fifer will move this to the correct place

Ian McKay Posted December 22, 2009 Author Report Posted December 22, 2009 So the fund of £500 still stands then. Do not have the exact total to hand think it may be slightly more with some money in hand
pjc Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 did Richard not state on here that he was keeping hold of the fund?

Ian McKay Posted December 22, 2009 Author Report Posted December 22, 2009 did Richard not state on here that he was keeping hold of the fund? No definately not he is transferring it to the new fund as soon as I get the account opened
Ian McKay Posted December 22, 2009 Author Report Posted December 22, 2009 well done ian i will donate a pair of youngsters to it if you want . Thanks Robbie this will help the fund to move forward Cheers Ian
bruno1 Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 did Richard not state on here that he was keeping hold of the fund? This is what he said about the fund in his statement at the beginning of the month. I think the main change is that it is to be held in an account seperate from pigeonbasics. The other day I announced that there would be some changes to Pigeonbasics and I'd like to go into some more detail here. The Fund. The Fund will become entirely independent from Pigeonbasics, but will continue the good work of the last two years. From what I can see, the administration is exactly the same as before, through applications decided by a committee drawn from pigeonbasics members..
showman Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 The account will be available for all committee members to view on the general board. If the fund is mainly from a member source, be it cash donation or birds donated for sale, why can the balance not be viewed by all members , thus keeping it transparent to all ?
Guest Jargre- Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 You might want to mention that payments via paypal can be made as a 'Donation' or 'Gift' if you haven't already? That way the fund doesn't get to pay the fees which all add up.

You are quite right Jamie but as you know I do not have a paypal account and Marlene will be handling that side of it, just like she explained to you she will explain to anyone paying by this method. Ian
Guest strapper Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 as this is funded by members then i should think its only fair its shown to avoid any unecessary questions . maybe have its own section on the site even?.
Guest lenwadebob Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 well done ian, once the comittee is decided upon and is all up and running i will have a couple of pairs of stock birds that you can have to get the fund going And like my son, I will donate 4 youngsters (April/May bred) to the cause.

IanYou could open up one with the bank account you have, that way it will tie in nicely and make life a lot easier for you, fantastic effort and I wish you the best of luck.
Ian McKay Posted December 22, 2009 Author Report Posted December 22, 2009 If the fund is mainly from a member source, be it cash donation or birds donated for sale, why can the balance not be viewed by all members , thus keeping it transparent to all ? I have no problem with this but have a problem about advertising on the Forum how much is paid out to each applicant as this will then lead to a never ending debate as to how we came about the sum gifted or refused. If the five committee members agree to a gift and the sum and it is open to them to check all income and expenditure I think this should suffice. Ian
Ian McKay Posted December 22, 2009 Author Report Posted December 22, 2009 And like my son, I will donate 4 youngsters (April/May bred) to the cause. Thank you kind sir I will take a rain check on your offer Ian
Ian McKay Posted December 22, 2009 Author Report Posted December 22, 2009 You could open up one with the bank account you have, that way it will tie in nicely and make life a lot easier for you, fantastic effort and I wish you the best of luck. Do you mean the Fund account if so will get Marlene to help me with this one Thanks Ian
cemetary Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 Cant we ask for all forum members to donate a 2010 yb, then the money raised will go to this, just an idea, dont want any slag back mind, JMO.

Ian McKay Posted December 22, 2009 Author Report Posted December 22, 2009 Cant we ask for all forum members to donate a 2010 yb, then the money raised will go to this, just an idea, dont want any slag back mind, JMO. Don't think you will get any slag or I hope not I think it is a good idea I will be at Blackpool asking for donations so you can put you offer on here or speak to me there. The main thing is to get the fund up and runnig so we can help the pigeon fanciers when and if necissary without too much delay. Ian
