Guest Owen Posted January 10, 2010 Report Posted January 10, 2010 I am sure that hens will fly well on roundabout or widowhood. I tried it once, but failed because we have a lot of widowhood cock flyers around this area. Every time I let the hens out they brought other people's cocks back with them. It was a disaster. I stick to widowhood cocks now and to be honest they take some beating when they are on form. Besides that they are very easy to manage and do not take up all that much time. Maybe I have been lucky but most of the others around here have lost birds to the Perigrine, some have lost quite a lot, but my cocks seem to be able to out fly him. I think that it would take up a huge amount of time to fly cocks and hens on rounderbout and prepare the youngsters to race. I estimated about 6 hours a day. I could not do that or perhaps I would not. A time investment like that would be far more than I would be prepared to make. In any case the return in terms of winning would not be much greater than what I can get now.
