Guest Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 i want to paint the walls white as its kinda dark! and would rather my loft be more bright! so could i paint while birds are in the loft?? could end up with a lot of pied uns , put them in a basket out the way . andy.
Guest youngboy Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 or i could lock them in there boxes!!
ray Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 yes you could if you want all white birds because believe me they can still get paint on them no matter where it is, put them in a basket for a couple of hours unless you have a spare end some where
OLDYELLOW Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 that all depends on paint your using , but surely this is a job you need to do when weather is better and will dry out quicker ? dont want paint on birds feathers nor the fumes :-/
Guest youngboy Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 maisonary!! just wondering would the fumes effect them no?
Guest bakes Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 if you got spar section move them into there or basket them up wont heart them till the paint drys
Guest youngboy Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 ya but the only thing is most nearly all me stock are sittin on eggs!! i no i didn pick a great time but better late then never :L so if i just lock them in there boxes they should be good ya?
OLDYELLOW Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 maisonary!! just wondering would the fumes effect them no? not if got the section well ventilated and it drys fast :-/ but best to have birds out of harms way imo, isnt massonary paint like plastic and could peel ? :-/
Craig05 Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 I wouldnt leave them in the loft, the fumes cant be good for them. would think you would be better off leaving them in baskets over night rather than in the loft.
OLDYELLOW Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 id wait till ybs weaned and birds are out of loft on a race day or training and paint then
Guest youngboy Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 well i never had any problems with the loft being damp anyway? but i will admit isint the best ventilated but shurely not the worste !!well i got told that is outdoor paint!! i havent yet purchased it yet? could you recommend a good one?
Guest youngboy Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 oh right so ill wait till all ybs are weaned and out and abouts so!! thanks for the help!!
OLDYELLOW Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 i dont paint my loft havent painted any of mine due to it flaking off , my Uncle used to use just ordinary white wash , emulsion paint drys pretty quick
lanarkshire lad Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 Mate it will dry in a couple of hours if the weathers ok , or you could get a heater in to sort it out thats if its a water based masonry.

Guest stb- Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 or i could lock them in there boxes!! GOOD THINKING BATMAN ;)
OLDYELLOW Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 Locking two birds in with ybs or eggs could be fatal as they'll get distressed and may trample ybs or smash the eggs
greenlands Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 JMO.Leave well alone, don't paint, weathers too damp, fumes, stress where do you stop. Lindsay
showman Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 better late then never Better late, than now.
