Guest 67ghirl Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 Out in the Garden waiting for Doos and watching the Batches flying overhead as usual - only today the batches where joined by Percy!!!!!!! At least 2 batches split right down the middle and Doos going in all directions! This is in the middle of Town so what are they facing in the Country? It's just so frustrating seeing it happen and being unable to do anything > This happened just before 10 o'clock and they are back up there now circling around!!!!!!! I believe there are a few members of the club who have lost birds this week to them!

Perhaps we should establish a fund to start with. Raised for example through a pigeon sale.
Kieran McDoo Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 Galashiels, this pair are the ones from the Church Steeple but just a few miles up the road at the Quarry there's another pair!

Guest IB Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 I was hoping to train from there this year. Don't know Gala all that well, a work placement took me to the bus station a few times few years back, so probably go there. Would that be close to these peregrines? Or do you think Stow would be safer for birds heading north? Also looking at future rail line, proposed Tweedbank station, is that still Galashiels or how far south of it?

The big Church steeple near the centre of Town you see as you enter Gala is where Percy nests. There is also a nest in the Quarry just North of Stow! A lot of Guys from the Lothian areas train down this way, I think it's just a case of getting your timing right and making sure Percy and Family are not in the Air . Don't go too close to the old railway line as the Sparrowhawk works this stretch (which runs alongside our lofts). The proposed Waverley line to Tweedbank is approx 2miles further on from Gala but I won't be holding my breath waiting for it to be built.
