Agree with you, wasn't being nasty to James, just politely jumped in before anyone else did as some are major league pissed at the problem and might have taken it wrong way and been harsher.

billt Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Hi lads, new to this site, not raced since 1986 back in southampton area, now live in west Wales, still have 40 birds and get attacked almost daily, peregrine, goshawk and female sparrowhawk but its amazing how good the birds get when they live with this, seen one blue hen out stoop peregrine from great height, had to do lap of the yard to slow down.
cemetary Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Welcome to the site billt, Saw peregrine go over this morning towards other guys birds, well down that way, saw sparrow hawk later on the day, starlings let you no when there about.
billt Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Thanks cemetary i've got swallows nesting in the buildings good warning for gos and sparrowhawk ;D
Guest Owen Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 A male Sparowhawk was flying high above the loft this afternoon. Makes me wonder were his mate is. Early evening there were 3 Peregrines flying above here. I am sure that it is the parents and their youngster that have been here for ages. These three kill pigeons regularly. I see Peregrines almost every day. Some days there is a Red Kite sailing about over head and there are always Buzzards soaring high above. I spoke to a guy today who is concerned with rearing young Game Birds. Apparantly they have had to delay having the new batch of chicks delivered because they are trying to make their accomadation Buzzard proof. He told me that the Buzzards scare the daylights out of the young game birds. Their problem is that the damage is done, not by the number of chicks they kill, it is the effects of the fright they have that does the real damage.
