Roland Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Even Jan Arden's son after 3 years never had any of his fathers strain... yet was amazed at all those that did... And that was many many years back now. Hienz is the only genuine strain... number 4566233154 I believe!
Delboy Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 maybe my west coast bias here but gareth rankin, delboy look out for the joe murphy write up on delboy should be in the bhw in the next couple of weeks as for the rankins gentlemen and they can score in the hardest part of scotland year in year out Thanx Bart for the mention, the cheques in the post. Roland Posted August 20, 2008 Report Posted August 20, 2008 Any bird that can't the 500 is best lost. Now it isn't getting the birds to fly the distance, it is getting them back quickish and smart like. So where a blumming good deal fall short is simply not being sent. Too many say stuff like 'Well they are only a middle distance bird at best, or Mine wouldn't be able to do it'! etc. etc. only way to build up a relible and trustworthy 'Distance / hard day' racers is to send them. Then of course only those able - if given the chance in good condition - are there to breed from come next season. Then of course it is the reliable, and trusted imports off another similar fancier or two like yourselves that you swap or buy in from... P.s. Never buy from any sale that doesn't have the actual goodies there... that means that anything any good has already gone. Sure one or two may have been promised FULL STOP!
Roland Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 Nah your the Hen, spangle is a sweet lol ;D

duffer Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 Years ago when i was starting in pigeons i thought all distance flyers had a secret method of picking distance pigeons,i would ask many fanciers how to breed a team of distance pigeons. No one was ever able or willing to tell me the answer then one day i met an old fancier called les Tuplin,a very succesfull channel flyer who just said to me "sometimes your best inland bird will breed your best channel bird and your best channel bird will breed your best inland bird.I thanked him for his advice but as i walked away i thought why cant they just tell me the truth, well as the years went by i realised he was telling the truth because no one realy knows.you can find good distance birds in any family you care to name you just have to find them.
duffer Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 I visited many top lofts in belgium and most fanciers there used to laugh at us in england with our pure breeds,in Belgium they buy good pigeons irrespective of its strain. One loft i remember was the breeder of Peter pau think he was called something like Guido seyes?,i have handled the sire of PeterPau a small blue cheq that was bought off a club mate for £12.00 he also passed us a dark cheq hen that he had just bought in for £27,000 o fancy strain but a top class pigeon.
duffer Posted August 30, 2008 Report Posted August 30, 2008 I see a lot of fanciers on here like the Busschaert strain, well these used to be only thought of as sprinters in this country untill the dark ones arrived.Someone on here said that when a pigeon went into Busschaerts loft it was a Busschaert but these never even went into his loft but i will tell you more about that another day.
