frank-123 Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 apple cider vinegar in the water feed light until the vets tells you what is wrong
Guest Posted May 14, 2009 Report Posted May 14, 2009 If you want to try to save it then isolate it, then day 1)appertex tab day2) spartrix tab day 3) leave alone just small seed and water for 2 hours day 4) put in small seed or water and if not interested then B.I.N. Me personally i'd just go to step 4!

Guest IB Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 Birds need to be healthy before you vaccinate them. Surely there's a good avian vet in the area? If your local vet can't treat the bird, he should be able to put you on to one who can. It is serious sh*t when birds die and I'm personally out of my depth at that stage, and its a holding job only till you can get a professional in: basically you need something in the water to help stop spread (cider vinegar 5ml per litre of water, or garlic bulb peeled & crushed) Watch out for vomited grain, get that picked up before anything else has a chance to eat it - that's a method of spread too. Cull the worst affected, and isolate others that look sick / off-colour. Withdraw food for a day, then start them on the second day with light feed - small seed, or smalls from a mixture, anything easily digested, until the droppings start to form up again, when you can add (gradually) beans, peas etc..
pjc Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 your normal vet should know if there is a local avian vet or look on the DEFRA web site for a local approved one.
