Henrik Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 6/19 East of Scotland from Selby yesteday. Had 2 back this morning
Delboy Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 When you keep pigeons all year round you look forward to the racing season, but always in the back of your mind you realise that when you get to the coast or channel you are going to get some sticky / disaster races at 350+ miles but never in your wildest dreams do you expect to get a disaster from 180 miles. If i am correct this is not the first time that your fed "Midland fed" has had this at this distance?. Hope all you Midland fanciers get your pigeons tommorrow. cheers Gareth Your right Gareth, this to me is the worst race I have ever known because this is obs we are dealing with, not ybs .I personally have 7 SNFC prize winners to come including a 1st and 2nd west section.Scotch Corner was a bad race but doesnt come close to this.We even had our yb Open race from Leyland 2 years ago when only one pigeon made it home in race time.Even that isnt as bad because as I said this is obs
GROVEHOMER Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 midland fed disaster :( :( :([/ TOTAL DISASTER. I RECKON BETWEEN 25-30 BIRDS HOME IN FED FROM 1600 AT 9.30 PM FROM 180-190 MILES. I HAVE 2/36. IS THIS THE WORST RACE IN HISTORY?? Sorry to hear about this Delboy, hope more work back although even those have now had a setback that could take some getting over. Heard it's been a cool start to the day which won't help birds that are already fatigued. Good luck today.
Ian McKay Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Ok Guy's I hear what you are saying .I have only 4/17 home so have suffered as much as most of you. On Friday at basketing we all knew it would be hard but we still put them???? How many of them posting on with complaints are or have been Race Controller or are willing to stand. This is as I see it NOBODY will stand for the job so WE MUST accept responsibility for the mess we get ourselves into. As someone on here has said Lanarkshire have put the RIGHT men on for the job. What I want to know is how did you manage it. Where were these men before if they are the right men This post is NOT meant to start an argument (but suppose it will degenerate to this ) so if it does I for one will not reply. I like all others want the birds to come first and foremost but if the right people will not stand just what are we supposed to do After all it is your birds. Every race controller I can remember has had a pasting somewhere sometime. I read about someone that did not go on Friday night but does that solve the problem and if it is as easy as that why do we keep getting caught out I get critisised for the race controller but as I see it you appoint him / her at the AGM therefore I leave them to do the job Please give me the answer as all race controllers are looking for it I do NOT believe any race controller does this deliberately It is easy after the event Technolodgy is wonderfull but it does not seem to help us with our birds
kelly tom Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 I already said that I live in Northallerton and I wouldnt have put my birds out for exercise never mind race it was a freezing morning with a cold North East wind poor visibility and raining here about 2 hours after lib the weather North of here was worse. So what line of flight forecast were they given. Your birds never had a chance every orginisation racing into our area held over.
rednyellow Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 6/15 midland fed 2.30 sun, missing birds that have scored in snfc races, still hoping. :-/ :-/ :-/
Taylorsloft Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 I already said that I live in Northallerton and I wouldnt have put my birds out for exercise never mind race it was a freezing morning with a cold North East wind poor visibility and raining here about 2 hours after lib the weather North of here was worse. So what line of flight forecast were they given. Delboy Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 17/36 home now from Midland fed disaster. Some birds totally knackered.I have 4 to come that have scored in the snfc
Whats it called Cumbernauld Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Yes looks though at least some are approaching half there birds back Least its better than in looked ot one stage
GREENGRASS Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 ian surely the way forward is basic technology ie a telephone and lets get all these race controllers talking to one another. there are some very good experienced race controllers out there and some inexperienced. the best controllers never get a mention because if we get a good race nobody mentions the lib if we get a bad race we all shout why did he let them go. now having said all that yesterday was a no brainer all the forecasts on all the various sites showed the same, low cloud, mist and rain with poor visibility on the east coast and in the hills. if you have this info and still gamble with a liberation i am afraid there is only one outcome. time to forget about petty feuds and politics because it is the birds welfare that should be paramount. nobody likes to hear about a fed or fancier getting hammered because we all know how that feels and it is not nice. the way forward has to communication between officals of neighbouring organisations.
Taylorsloft Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 its not the frist time he has done it doncaster smash a few years ago 1 bird in my club on the day .ps i never voted for him
Williedoo Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 He was the only one to put his name forward for the job.
frank-123 Posted May 18, 2008 Author Report Posted May 18, 2008 ian the right men for the job guys who have the brains to phone about check weather forecasts at least that would give the birds a chance sort of people who say enough is enough i need to stand up for the sake of the birds lanarkshire had a tough day on sunday but one thing for sure they had the better weather than saturday what happens when there up is anyone's guess nobody is saying this is an easy job but tam kelly has told you the truth somebody in your fed should get there ass kick also midland fed why did they go when lanarkshire held 20 miles up the road i would ask did they phone anybody in lanarkshire not a witch hunt but if they cant be bothered to check why do the job even better plenty people know our controller ask him why lanarkshire held sorry but its a poor excuse to say its a hard job a hard job is looking after your birds all week the least controller could do is get them up in decent weather or bring them home
Ian McKay Posted May 18, 2008 Report Posted May 18, 2008 Hi Bart it does not matter how hard or easy the job is if no one will stand up the members take what is on offer Nobody will take the job I see Taylorlofts has plenty to say, he is being fired up by his puppet master But as he is stating our controller has no job I will let you know if STEVE TAYLOR will stand for the job We have been sacking race controllers for three years now and it is a witch hunt every time this is the reason no one will stand We all know who wants the job but he does not have the balls to stand because he has given us stinkers in the past he gets someone else to stand then tells them what to do so if it goes wrong he cannot get the blame STEVE Taylor has posted on this forum a load of crap before and when asked to prove it cannot Arniston last year in case you have forgotten Steve Northallerton last year Steve This is the pigeon fancier / Driver that did not know he had to fit two drinkers on large crates Steve how much more crap and lies are you going to print on an open forum Try comming to meetings to help the officialls sort out this mess you will not be there as your puppet master will not let you go. You cannot answer e-mails sent to you but you can post on an open forum where nobody knows the crap you speak and print If you keep having a go at me I will answer back this has been going on for over two years I have always tried to be sensible about it but I am sick of your crap Tell your puppet master or yourself to stand against me for the job as President anytime. I will call a meeting anytime to suit, lets see the vote. You have had the opportunity to stand against me for the last three years but you never do why not you seem to know everything. Remember people who live in glass houses should not throw stones??????????? Do not take this as a resignation. I will not resign when it gets hot in the kitchen like you and your croanies, but I am willing to give you or anyone else the chance to stand against me seeing as you appear to want the job here is your opportunity Cheers Ian
Taylorsloft Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 you never got a bad race when i was on the tranporter ,as for the drinkers i would like to see you water bird in pich darkness that reason there was only one drinker on FOOL
Taylorsloft Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 when my puppet master dies i will have his ashes scatterd on my green just as you did with your puppet master. unless he is running things from beyond the grave
Williedoo Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 Stevie ,when I had to drive the transoorter with you years ago because we had no driver, as he had packed it in, we were at Northallerton. The weather at the race point was o.k and if you recall after the lib, diving up the road, when we got to the Tyne Valley it was covered with mist. I was phoning peiople in Aberdeen to see if the birds were home because it did not look good. When we got to the Stonehaven Club that day to drop of their baskets on the way home, Mike Main said there was only a hand full of birds home. I had not set a clock as I was with the transporter, but I had birds to the race. On hearing this I said to you lets go round by my house and see if I have any race birds home. When you and I went into my loft I had a bird. We took the rubber band off my pigeon and went down to Kenny Pratts house in the transporter and clocked my pigeon ito his clock along with my details. I was 2nd club 4th Fed that day. Was that not a bad race?
Williedoo Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 you never got a bad race when i was on the tranporter ,as for the drinkers i would like to see you water bird in pich darkness that reason there was only one drinker on FOOL If the lights in the corrridor of the transporter were not working did you report it to the transport manager?
Ian McKay Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 That is not the story you told me at the meeting Was it dark all day???????????
