Dave barrie Posted August 1, 2009 Report Posted August 1, 2009 hi, just wondering about returns from fed race at perth today ,buckie returns were sketchy to say the least, my race controller checked line o flight which was clearing to good , i also phoned a doo flyer in carnoustie who told me, coast was clear with good visibility inland east n west from him, we had a fresh southerly at racepoint with sun through broken cloud at 12 30 so decided to lib at 1 00 o clock, the doos werte well watered and had plenty of time to drink although i dont see many y/b take a drink out of the crates, on lib the birds cleared well straight north on direction of the old bells factory at last r/bout leaving perth, personally had one out of race time, clocks at six, others had poor returns out of big entrys, there being no feds north of us and fife fed libbed at 11 30 for a 40 or so fly from arniston the only thing i can think of is predation by hawks, mebbe scattered in all direction, your thoughts on this would be appreciated, davy convoyer.
robbiedoo. Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 dave some guys like myself have good returns but i also know of fanciers with still just under half to come 17out of 31 dont know if its predators or not but according to 3 fanciers i,ve had contact with today from aberdeen it been pissing down there all day . dave before any one thinks its young birds not trained the reason why there not home the guy with 14 to come has had the same training as me as i toss his doos for him and we,ve had 8 chucks each so its maybe down to your donald duck or not saying there is but if i had poor returns and some fanciers had good the brain would be working overtime and i would get my droppings tested to make sure there nothing hanging about them .
Dave barrie Posted August 2, 2009 Author Report Posted August 2, 2009 good post robbie and thanks for that but leon hardly ever draps a doo , we train together and he is the same, still waiting and that was at clocks, the birds ar in good health as is oor way. he is a more consistent flyer than me but all over , it is bad returns in club,it must have been something interupted them. davy
Blue Chequer Pied Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 Morning Davy, THe returns in general up this way seem good. I personally have 19 out of 20. The birds seem to have got a good 'steer-up' as they were coming from all directions and I know that was the case in other clubs aswell. My impression it was a strange but good race. Regards, Paul.

Taylorsloft Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 the north feds races close at 400 yds pm
Taylorsloft Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 whats that 13 mph ? 400yds = 13.63 mph
Bluedoo Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 Stoney. We didnt see the sun until 15:00- 15:30 though dry from about 13:00. Then lovely late afternoon and evening. Strong S,SW wind. At 13:00 there was fog/ v. low cloud to the NW and rain.
ritchie1 Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 sent 25 and had 23 back some birds went over wasent a good race yesterday glad to see them back
john cumming Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 well ive 12 back outa 17, aye at was one of the stranger races, very erratic returns!!
ritchie1 Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 yes i would second that birs was all over sky
BLACK W F Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 dont think this was anything to do with weather as the birds got a good start looks as if they been hit by BOP and split them up hopefully the guys that are short there birds will work back best of luck
john cumming Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 weather wasnt so good in aberdeen area yesterday when i was there?? but sayin that the birds were comin from every direction
Blue Tooner Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 I had 51/53 by 6.30pm last night, but the birds were very jumpy on arrival, flying round the loft for anything from 5 mins to 15 mins attempting to land then chickening out of it and up for a few more laps. The first batch I seen was at 3.07pm around 30-40 coming out of the south west, got one out of that batch, but it flew around for 5 mins and was very nervous :-/. Most of my birds had had a good soaking. It started raining heavily at 14.30 and had been drizzly up to that time on and off all day. I see the doos are in Elgin at 14.40 so possibly they went up the middle keeping to the west side of the weather. My later birds all came out of the North West. Possibly could have been BOP amongst them though as Black W/F says.
john cumming Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 aye stuart the amount oh doos that came fae the west side certainly suggests they came up the middle route, well spread out n jumpy as hell ad say something in amongst them for sure, couple of our lads we doos with all the signs of bop attack didna see any batches yesterday at all our 1st bird was at 14.51 harry mullan
