I have 17 pairs down. Got 20 eggs from 10 pairs betweem 9 and 11 days or there abouts. Theres no sign of the rest looking like laying.

Any ideas. Is it worth splitting them and repairing?

If your birds were healthy when you mated them up etc, it most certainly is the weather, & I will tell you why I think that way. I mate here (Aussie land) on the 1st of October every year, then take 3 rounds & I'm finished by the 31st of this month (123 days) & that's only because of a few late ones etc, that I finish then. There is no magic formula type thing for what I do. In fact !!!!!!!!, many lay on a 30 day cycle & as far as I'm concerned the only reason for it, is the weather.

Enjoy.

I agree with everyone else here. It's cold for pairing up. I paired the stud up the week before Christmas all but the yearling hens went down within 8-10 days, some of the yearlings have started going down but I'm just waiting for the weather to warm up then I think they'll kick into action. It is certainly warmer here in Devon taday
