speedbird Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 bit close brother & sister 1/2 brother & sister realy works
Guest shadow Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Personally I think it is to close mother to son and father to daughter is the closest I have gone with any succes
Chatrace Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Brother and sister happen here all the time,it is called West Virgina Family :-)
sapper756 Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Have to agree, brother & sister too close for me, I would pair 1/2 brother & sister, or parent to offspring to maintain the blood lines.
lordcornwallis Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 matt white of paisley scotland won the scottish national rennes with scotch king this pigeon was also 3rd national. he was bred from a brother sister mating by mistake, matt and his dad got two grizzles from another fancier and paird them together thay did not no that thay were siblings until after scotch kings national performances , i think scotch king was in the top 10 three times from rennes lc
PIGEON_MAN Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 TALKING OF MATT WHITE WASN,T HE THE GUY WHO USED TO BREED THE BARLESS BLUES ANYBODY STILL HAVE ANY OF THEM THEY LOOKED KINDA STRANGE WITHOUT THE BLACK BARS BUT IF I REMEMBER THEY USED TO RACE VERY WELL FOR HIM.
jacksafc Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 Carls stated he hasnt got the Sire and Dam so cant do most of the suggestions put forward to breed to a certain line so brother and sister might be the only option. I'm sure there was a Dordin enthusiast a while back who used to breed from siblings with a lot of success.

I'm sure there was a Dordin enthusiast a while back who used to breed from siblings with a lot of success. spot on there jacksafc. This brother and sister pair are the only birds i have from an old burt hession cock i paid good money for,he only ever filled two eggs for me,these are the only two birds i have managed to get from him in three years and they are still here after three seasons.Could i take youngsters from this brother and sister pairing to try and get the family back, ??? thanks all
hooky Posted June 4, 2006 Report Posted June 4, 2006 bro and sis mating is no different really than mo/son..it will not cause defects in your birds that are not already in the line....inbreeding does not create defects but what it does is bring them to surface..only way you are going to know is try ..what have you to loose?
carl Posted June 4, 2006 Author Report Posted June 4, 2006 Thanks people i floated the two eggs from the brother and sister and they are full as normal so i guess i will just have to see.if i get two strong youngbirds i will cross them with my other van reet birds and see how it goes. thanks again
jimmy white Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 i first paired brother to sister by accident, this pair bred a fed winner have done this a few times since, one was 17th one loft race ,shu a number of years ago,, but my own opinion is these birds need out crossed after that
