rasbull Posted March 6, 2009 Report Posted March 6, 2009 I have been rather late this year pairing up and my first eggs were laid on the 21st February. I want to breed enough youngsters for my own purposes. I then want to breed a round for my brother who is currently building a loft. He is not gonna be racing this year, but will train the birds up quietly and breed his own young birds next year. Whats the latest I could leave it to breed him a round so he is able to breed his own next year around jan/feb?
rasbull Posted March 6, 2009 Author Report Posted March 6, 2009 What date in June? We talking eggs to be laid early june or eggs laid late june? Will this affect the moulting of the birds in previous seasons?

ALF Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 I always like to have my later y/b's rung by june the 1st as they will catch the racing My most consistent y/b this year was 1 of these And in the early tosses he could'nt do 15 miles on the shift and kept coming back the next day by himself but he made it through every y/b race easily enough ;D ;D ;D
wayne77 Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 Won from tough yb race with young hen hatch 28th April. I've not paired yet :-/

NW USA Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 What date in June? We talking eggs to be laid early june or eggs laid late june? Will this affect the moulting of the birds in previous seasons? Unless you have a time machine it will never effect moult in PREVIOUS seasons. I'm a new flyer breeding out of youngbirds that were hatched about 6/20 last year....they have been a little slower (3 weeks later) then some of my friends breeders have this spring. I'm guessing its because they are a little young.
peterpau Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 Won from tough yb race with young hen hatch 28th April. I've not paired yet :-/ ;D Thought I was the only one left to pair ;D Still this week end will do me
Roland Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 Alf, had 2 youngster born end of June ... These flew most Races. End of for I put them straight in at the 140 miler of Northallerton.... In the September they flew Thuro! 469 miles. Like I say in Canada when there the y/b's were doing the season, and finishing with two BACK to back 400 odd milers.
Chairman Posted March 11, 2009 Report Posted March 11, 2009 Egg or young in May fly all the way, better in June, the real tune but breed in July and you'll ask why ? That why I always breed in December, win every young bird race and your name they always remember! Move with time ain't no crime? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D :o :o
