Harry the "National" you were 2nd in how many birds were sent ?

By the way if it had been in the S"N"FC I would also have put the inverted commas ....as I think both bodies now have a cheek calling themselves Nationals, mind you the S"N"FC have more right than the S"N"RPC as they were the originals ....but now has been diluted.

I will not be joining any of the above mentioned bodies as I feel both are frauds one through choice & one though circumstance.

we sent to the st nazaire national knowing our birds had to break from the birds that were

sent from the national flying club , these birds were getting pulled right ,left ,and centre and had to get there own line home to scotland irrespective of how many there was ,

4,483 birds was sent for the whole convoy , john procter was on the day at 9-37 i wasthe next morning at 5-52 there was 124 birds from the snrpc in its 2nd year of existance

out of all that came home 28 gallant pigeons made it in race time i had 3 home out of my 4 one was 2nd open and the other was 20th open and igot my 3rd on the 3rdmorning , i don,t need to tell you all this , but i will go on to say my 2nd one was 33rd open reims last year and my 3rd pigeon was at tours and i did not time him cause ithought the race over which it was not but there , all ready to go back this year again , stevie you have a lot of work to catch up on mate       cheers harry come in andsee me sometime you might be lucky to have a lokk see

So there were 124 birds in this National ....it does not matter a jot what they went up with as all birds flying club races have to fly with and against birds coming in all directions....now I was not trying to be-little your birds achievements as thats some flying ....but 124 birds I'm afraid does not make a national ....but it would not matter if it were 12400 birds it would still not make a National as if their are two bodies claiming national status how the hell can it be a National

o.k. stevie your new back in the sport you say , and i,ll use the word (sport) lightly the time you were bringing up your kids , which you have every right to do 1st and formost, now i have just picked up at my right hand here the snfc book for 2001 where it says nantes 186 members sent 386 birds ,it also says there was only 47 pigeons in race time, so before the split  and after i think thesnrpc are to me ontop and remember also 623 MILES IS A LONG WAY FOR A PIGEONTO KEEP GOING WHEN THE OTHERS ARE DROPPING OFF ON THE ROAD UP SCOTLAND ,I MENT TO SAY THERE WAS 48 MEMBERS SENT TO ST NAZAIRE IN A NORTH EAST WIND

Im going to race in the SNRPC  and the SNFC in a couple of years when I get a team. One isnt better than the other- yes the SNFC is bigger but the SNRPC is growing and more and more people are joining. Theres a lot of good flyers in both so lets not call one a fraudster etc

Why doesnt everyone just fly their pigeons- all this arguing is killing the sport. If people promoted the sport locally with as much passion as they have in arguing like kids then the sport would have a chance of thriving

I live in an area where guys who were friends for years no longer talk to each other cos they are SHU or RPRA

Ive joined both and two local clubs so on a saturday Ill have 2 races and when the time arrives the choice of a full program of both sets of nationals

Double the chance of winning and competing- chance to set birds up for couble the amount of races- makes a lot of sense to me

I grew up in a family surrounded by pigeonmen, there was a lot of comradary between them locally and the quality of Doomen seems to have went right downhill

Not just in the skills ijn flying pigeons but the friendship aspect- all ive heard is people sniping and on these forums theres loads of Expert Doomen who ram their opinions down other throats

If someone has an opinion then let him have his opinion- why slate him and have a go at his credability - it not about who is the best but doing your best and enjoying the sport

Thers names on here such as Gareth Rankin, Jimmy White and Derek Hay - all of good character and dont force thier will on you

These are all good Doomen and I know that in Derek and Gareths case Bred from good doomen ( Sorry Jimmy dont know you family history)

Im just happy to come on the forums, talk pigeons and not get involved in the crap that some folk want to argue about

Ive said my bit- Good luck to all in 08 Where and whatever you fly and what method you use

Surely wouldnt it be better when you send so few birds to have them going with the nfc again least they have good start with more birds give them helping hand across the channel and at least some way up the country

WELL THIS IS VERY TRUE ,ROSE YOU WILL HAVE THE SAME WITH THE bicc the further your race point goes out , we here in scotland are the same ,the birdage gets less simply cause now you have silly inland nationals (percy cameron will be turning in his grave ) which take up a lot of birdage and members prefer this noe so they can get there ets clocks ,and whats left of clocks off so they can get back to playing golf and  playing bowls , come back and all you decent pigeon fanciers everywhere  and have a crack at the long distance

TO DOO  :(     inthe furthest flying nationals in to scotland in the last 20 years these races are for the distance people , who love competing in such , don,t deprive them of national status

niort

in 1989 j,duthie methil fife 691 miles  881 birds

in1990 d.n.dall l/bank   "    697 "        901  "

   1991j.s irving b/kirk        613  "       778 "

   1995 d&r osborne            622 "       474 "

   1996 j traill thornton fife   690  "      260 birds

nantes from from 1997 to 2000

392 , 475 , 561  and 386  that was the birdages till the year 2000 the birdages were coming down all the time are you going to say they were not national,s either DOOi

think the the fanciers who won them would beg to differ

so it was no differant now to what it is to-day and S.NR.P.C. WILL GROW FROM STRENGH TO STRENGH  AND I WILL KEEP SENDING BECAUSE IT IS REGONISED AS THE NEW CLUB OF THE FUTURE , AND I,M VERY PROUD OF MY ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE COMPANY OF SHEER CLASS PIGEON MEN AND  IN FLYING MY BIRDS IN THERE COMPANY

I,M TO OLD NOW FOR ANY MORE NONSENSE , FROM YOU WHIPPER SNAPPERS WHO WANT TO LEARN EVE RYTHING  IN MINUTES , I,M A VERY PROUD  IT COULD ALL HAVE WENT T-TS UP WHEN MY WIFE TOOK ILL AND I HAD TO TAKE A BACK STEP AND LOOK AFTER HER , NOW SHE IS IN A NURSING HOME AND NOT GOT LONG TO LIVE I,M MAKING THE MOST OF IT JUST NOW AND HOPE YOU NEVER EVER GO THROUGH WHAT I,VE ENCOUNTERED IN THE LAST 5 YEARS, LOSING MY GRANDSON WITH MENENGITIS AT 20 AND 1/2 WEEKS SO DON,T GIVEME ANYMORE sh** ABOUT NOT NEEDING 2 NATIONALS

I,M TO OLD NOW FOR ANY MORE NONSENSE , FROM YOU WHIPPER SNAPPERS WHO WANT TO LEARN EVE RYTHING  IN MINUTES

Harry, I have been in and about pigeons since I was 9 years old getting my first loft & birds at 9 yrs

I am now 41yrs old so can hardly be called a whipper snapper that knows nothing, all right maybe I have only won things at Club & Fed level & had the first bird out of 5001 birds at one short race between Ayrshire,Renfrewshire & Ballochmyle, but does this mean I don't know how to fly a doo or have an opinion because I have not been in at the Nationals .....I think not.

I might have to move to Fife or the Borders to be allowed an opinion if I need to be in at the Nats to have one.

I was only trying to say how can two bodies claim to be Nationals when the competition is diluted, I don't think there is anything in that to get all hot & bothered about.

I was in no way trying to demeen the results of your birds , I was only trying to get the above point across

As for the rest of your post

We all have seen tragedy in our own lifes, there is not a person born that does not have a story.

Harry enjoy your birds & I will enjoy mine & I think we should leave it at that, as you seem to be getting a bit upset & that is not what I was after.

Hi Vallance,

Sid the NFC Secretary is my brother.

Ted, my father is also called Sid and he is Jack's brother. Jack is my uncle.

We still race as Barkel Brothers here in Sunderland, just like my dad and uncle did years ago before my Uncle Jack emigrated to South Africa.

If anyone needs to know anything regarding the NFC, contact Sid on the above contact details, he will help you as much as he can.

Hope this clarifies everything.

All the best

Dave

Maybe I should have posted this on here :'(

Since me and Billy have decided to form a partnership, his health permitting, we have talked about what body to join.

Having looked at the website of the RPA some time ago, I noticed they were an association representing England, I am glad to see they have now change it. But it does reflect what is common in many British sports. If the RPA are our National governing body representing all of the UK and they have a SNRPA then surely they should have a ENRPA, WPRPA and a WNRPA

It also depends whether you consider Scotland to be a nation in it's own right, if so then racing against other nationals like Wales Ireland or England would be an internation race.

Since having to deal with Billy you realise there is a lot more to life than all the above, Billy would just happy be at the moment seeing his birds tossed or being trapped, but even now with all the tubes in him he still argues the case for the SHU, sad but true some people will never change till their day comes :'(

This race from saintes is the perfect opportunity for all of scotland true distance men to match their wits against each other. and you never know this could be the way forward in bringing a bit of unity within scotlands national racers.and also showing the rest of the uk just how good the scottish distance flyers really are .so come on lets put scottish long distance racing up there with the best europe has to offer.

Sadly due to work commitments,i dont think i will be able to make it mate.Which is unfortunate as i was looking forward to haveing a chat with youself, and meeting some of the top class distance fanciers in your club.So it looks like it will have to be the SNRPC young bird sale, and we will have that chat mate.
