gareth seem s strange for a guy to point out all these problems /excuses for the west sect  yes i will agree good fanciers in every sect but if you think the west is hard try the north  plenty work up here and hooses  come up and see how you get on  plenty left the north and done well and some won nat and in some cases could do nothing up here  the north is the place of the hard distance  birds  but still the quality shines through with many great performances  JMO

Have a relation that lives in Aberdeen will tell her i'm moving in and going to convert her Garage ;D ;D ;D on a serious note i would love to fly up there as you get that extra millage that allows you to more races around the 600 + mile mark 8) 8).

cheers

Gareth

YES BUT REMEMBER HE WOULD GET AN EXTRA 10 MINS LIGHT ON A FULL MOON ON THE COAST  BUT WOULD NOT NEED TO WORRY ABOUT ON THE DAY NOT AT THAT DISTANCES THEY VERY FEW AND FAR BETWEEN THEM DAY DOOS AT THAT DISTANCE

REMEMBER DISTANCE KILLS  600-TO 700PLUS ON THE DAY   VERY RARE

AND GARETH NON FROM THE WEST COME UP HERE THE ONES THAT HAVE MOVED FROM OTHER AREAS HAVE FOUND THINGS VERY SURPRISING ESPECIALLY WITH THE DOOS THEY BROUGHT WITH THEM  LIKE NOT GETTING THEM TO RACING LOST ALL TRAINING

HARD  LIFE UP HERE  BUT SOME CRACKING DOOS  AND SOME CRACKING FANCIERS THAT WOULD WIN ANYWHERE

I have followed this thread with interest, humour and at times disbelief.

As already stated by many, there are excellent fanciers in every corner of Scotland.

Quite surpried no one has had a pop at us South Section fanciers, afterall there is an anti South attitude in some quarters.

When I am on the lookout for new birds whether it be Scotland or England I always go to lofts in the West of the country.... why beacause the East lofts have it easier and that is a fact.

The West section guys have got it tough

Chris you might think that but can assure you the north is the hardest  distance kills   remember plenty flying in south sect from the north  know 1 who won the nat  but was not that good up here just ave  that speaks for itself

CHRIS LITTLE IT IS ALL IN GOOD HUMOUR BUT AS YOU SAID WHY THE SOUTH ISNT BEEN TAKEN INTO IT YOU CANT HELP WHERE YOU STAY WHEN IT COMES TO NATIONAL RACING SOMEONE HAS TO BE SHORTEST AND LONGEST [ BUT AS YOU MENTIONED IT I CANT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS SUCH A THING AS AN OLD BIRD INLAND NATIONAL WHEN YOU LADS ONLY FLY 60 MILES SHORTER THAN OUR YBN BIRDS ITS RIDICULOUS THAT A BIRD WINS THIS CRAP AND GETS SAME CREDIT AS BIRD WINNING A FRENCH RACE [ IF THIS IS HAPPENING THEM THAT KNOWS THEY THEY CANT TIME FROM OVER THE WATER BUT HEY THESE IDOTS ARE SAYING THESE SPRINTERS ARE IN SAME LEAGUE AS THE LONG DISTANCE BIRDS WNEN ITS NOT THE DISTANCE SOME ARE SENDING THEM TO  TRAINING TOSSES TO CONDITION THERE BIRDS FOR THE SUPREME EFFORT FOR THE LONG DISTANCE HAUL SAY NO MORE (puke)(puke)

And DRAG OF PIGEONS. The west got some top positions last year because of the Lanarkshire fed coming on board, this in turn tipped the scales of success more to the west section. In the 60s,70s the west section achieved similar results because of the amount of birds they sent. DRAG, an undeniable massive factor in pigeon racing, just look at the yb National.

Dont forget derek last year we had east winds at some of these nationals it will be interesting to see what happens this year.

drag in the longest race with the nat 2009 we went up with the unc  and the west section were. 4th.5th.6th.10th.16th.23rd, open. so they had no problem breaking then.

I WOULD SAY YOU BOYS IN THE SOLWAY AREA HAVE VERY SIMILAR PROBS AS THE WEST SECT NOW.  trying to get your birds from the south through the cumbrian hills  shap etc with the bop problems.   When they get trapped in the valleys they dont have anywhere to go apart from back in the direction they came,  the only difference i would say is some of the west birds have another 90 mls of valley to contend with,

years ago when bop was not the same problem you would get most birds taking this route

but not so many nowadays :B :B
