just ask me Posted August 7, 2008 Author Report Posted August 7, 2008 Why not try using natural products rather than antibiotics yes mate u could be right but all the top pigeon men using it i ave used it all this natural craic makes sense without a doubt but u have u use certain antibiotics at certain times
lofty Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 A UK GP will not prescribe human drugs for animals It is illegal or any drug without good reason (metronidazole is used for anaerobic infections such as Dental abscess, trichomonas vaginalis, infected leg ulcers etc. So unless you present to your GP with one of these infections you won't get any. Believe me!! and the cost will come out of his/her budget! and prescription costs are now £7.10 per item. Lofty Better off buying carnidazole or ronidazole -both licenced for pigeons and both very effective and less side effects in birds.

JSTOON Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 Hi Bart, i use flagly liquid, we buy a bottle of 100ml for £15-00, and treat orally, two drops down throat, or on the pigeon corn. Ive done this for years, and never had a problem with canker, and they do win well. The only thing to be mind full of, is that treating with the same product all the time, can build up a resistance in the bird, and eventually it has no effect. Feeding barley througout the winter also keeps the canker levels low i was told, so have done this myself throughout the winter, and touch wood not a problem. It also keeps the birds with a balanced diet, and assissts when the hens are being paired and are getting ready to lay.
ALF Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 So far i have'nt treated my y/b's for anything all they have had is the paramyxo vaccination and thats their wack
chrissyboy Posted August 7, 2008 Report Posted August 7, 2008 So far with YB , two races no losses, one first. with no canker treatment for old birds or ybirds, only natural products,in my view only way forward
