Guest TAMMY_1 Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 yes we have used Ronidazole and found it very effective but we now alternate it with Ridsol .
andrew gooch Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 to expensive can get a kilo off raf herbot for 20 pound
Guest MIKE1957 Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 ive tried this and it works for me and the price seems ok http://pigeons.taylorschoice.co.uk/products/162937_cankex_-_uk_animal_health_100ml.php
Guest MIKE1957 Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 is it the 5% one :-/ i did read somewhere it used tobe more like 10% & they use it abroad alot , i was told to use a different one each time so canker does not get use to it there are so many on the market so i agree with you ,try a different one each time and see what one works
Guest MIKE1957 Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 i like to use the powder type or do you use the table kind , or both :-/ ive used both, but i prefer powder its easier to use
peterpau Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 Yes I use it. It aint a matter of finding which one works. Kanker treatments need to be used on a rotational basis.
Guest MIKE1957 Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 with been out of work at this time, i was thinking the powder type would go a lot further compared to tables , trying to do whats best but keep cost s down a bit thats what its about at the moment...keeping the cost down. like you im not working at the moment so every penny counts, i get all my stuff from taylors choice, i find there prices are good

just ask me Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 the stuff advertised aint any good, not strong enough, got it take that from a pigeon guy ok strange one that as its the same active ingredient as any other product maybe u gave your birds too much drugs over the years and now are immune to the stuff u should really change the type of drug u are giving them from year 2 year
Guest bigda Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 what you on mate, look mate is 10% greater that 5% ask your self that i give in :-/
Guest spin cycle Posted February 22, 2009 Report Posted February 22, 2009 with been out of work at this time, i was thinking the powder type would go a lot further compared to tables , trying to do whats best but keep cost s down a bit i've been told its good to switch treatments..so i switched from spartrix tabs to chevicol powders (easier)...but in a way i wish i'd bought chevicol tabs as you know each bird is done. i suppose if treating for canker you need full dose....but for prevention/low levels i wonder if 1/2 dose ok. i reckon canker is the most important of the basic diseases so important to do something.....having said that i know good fanciers who say they don't treat (worried)

I would also check the label for the dose; if it says X for Y days, then you must do that. Underdosing will almost certainly leave live organisms, these will develop immunity to the treatment you've just used, reproduce back to previous levels and form a colony resistant to all treatments in the same class. I've seen opinions that these treatments underdose anyway; and have given rise to the present resistant susperstrains.
