a few years a go i saw a tapeworm hanging from a mealy i had...i treated all birds,i understand that slugs/snail can carry the eggs into the loft as well as birds picking around the garden.

this was the 1st time i knew pigeons could have tapeworm.

What would you suggest that is also safe for the birds, including the ones that nest in my garden hedges?

Hi all

Before deworming my birds, they actually came verry well from the combined tosses we had over the week-ends before our races start.

My question to you all : Will they improve on theire times after the deworming or not?

Any comments would be appreciated! :-/

How do i use Ivermectin? I have some in the back of the truck for use on the cattle, but never used it before on the pigeons.

be very careful using it mate, 1 drop of a pippet on the back of the neck is all they need,

yes , i use noramectin sheep drench , it is water based ,  in the bath at the rate of 3ml-to the gallon , in the drinker 5ml-2ltr's for 2 day's ,it can be got at any good farm shop , about £23 a ltr.

it will clear out all worm's , bar tape , used in the bath , will clear all lice & mite's , even scaley leg mite , bull head's , and tick's , quill mite's ,

is it true ivermectin has an adverse effect on hawks? ;-)
yes pete it will have an effect , if you can pour enough down its throat  lol , but at the rate's that we worm pigeon's it will only aid to a better constituiton for the hawk , pancure can kill BOP as some of the falcon boy's have found when worming their bird's , it opens a back door for any latent infections that a BOP may have , in healthy BOP no prob's
