Guest Freebird Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 Harka-mectin will clear all parrasites from your birds with two drops to the back of neck between shoulders and if the feather rot is caused by mites it will clear that as well. Lasts for around six months. Click on ebay link below. This is where I purchased it and it does work. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HARKERS-HARKA-MECTIN-CAGE-BIRDS-PIGEONS-KILLS-WORMS_W0QQitemZ220422691539QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Pet_Supplies_Birds?hash=item3352375ad3&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1683%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

Guest Freebird Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 FREEBIRD DONE MY BIRDS WITH THIS PRODUCT EARLIER IN THE YEAR AND IT DIDNT WORK,STILL HAD LICE AND NOW SAME BIRDS HAVE FEATHER ROT.SURELY THERE IS A PRODUCT MADE FOR DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM MAYBE OUR POULTRY FRIENDS MIGHT KNOW Sorry bandit, didn't know that. It certainly worked for my birds. Done them this time last year and have now just done again as I spotted a few lice. Duramitex will definately work but the original product was taken off the market as it is thought to be cancerous. I have it but defo would not use on my birds. I use it to clean anything from my straw before nesting by putting in a big plastic bag with a couple of drops and a good shake and left for a week. If you get one of your affected birds in the dark with a torch and have a look on it's breast you will determine if it is a mite or not. The northers mite can be a problem at this time of the year and birds with it have been known to pull feathers out in shear frustration. Hope you get to the bottom of it soon.
Guest peter.j Posted July 18, 2009 Report Posted July 18, 2009 Im dipping mine in this next week once there is a nice day to do it. Have done it for years and best thing i have come across - Bought the Harkers stuff and found it 100% rubbish and ended up binning it. We mix the duramytex up in hot water and dip the bird in it opening the wings gently - I know the new stuff is meant to not be as good as the old but it still seems to work as well for us. Another good idea and something i do practice is to get 1 spray bottle to do around the loft and fill 3-4 others and sell them to friends etc (in my case people in the bars/gym) for £2.50 a bottle as Ant spray - I gurantee they will come come back for more next time and this idea actually pays for the original bottle purchased. feckinell its ARFUR DALEY ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
