grizzal Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 keep mice traps set all the time + poison under the lofts there was another posting on this i think.
billy wilson Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 if you have decent mouse traps they are the best well i think so,cheese on mouse traps is only a gimic i think a piece of chicken, mars bar is best i think always set a mouse trap next to the wall with the platform right next to the wall as mice always travel this way as there sight is not good
billy wilson Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 forgot to say the reason i use mouse traps is because theres nothing worse than dead vermin under the sheds as it has a terrible smell,to catch rats catch them in a cage then kill them dont let them rot under you lofts, yak, the smell.
allenyeates Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Best bait for mouse is chocolate(Topic because of nuts which is also brilliant in squirrel cage traps) or peanut butter. For rats a crispy fried sausage or bacon skin off boiling bacon (left out of thier reach for a couple of days to mature)is irresistable. Always remember these rodents are mainly grain feeders so if all else fails go back to these.
Chris Brazel Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Yeah, if you use anti freeze watch out for those cats that will lick anything. Me mums came back foaming at the mouth before it died shortly afterwards from anti-freeze! It was pretty disturbing for her and my little sister!
jack Posted November 3, 2008 Author Report Posted November 3, 2008 thanks all i think i will go with the anti freeze
OLDYELLOW Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 just enough to soak into the wheat then put an up turned milk crate over it or a tomatoe box then nothing else can get at it
Roland Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Peanut butter is cool ... but the smell attracts too. I use mars bars in traps, and bread with antifreeze. It is sweet tasting...
terry mccarthy Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 as much as u can get away with depends wat your mixing it with
kirky Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 maize on trap does the job, thay dont even manage to take the maize off the spike, so you just reset.
the pigeon_milker Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 dont like poisoning they die slowly and in places you carnt get to this can cause disease so trapping is best you can even get live traps so ya can let them go in your local pond they are quick to pick upon things so change the color or the smell of them and move them about every now and then air pistols are good fun but you gotta be a good aim peanuts are very good as bait
Guest dogeon Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 ur right anti freeze is a deadly poison, becareful as this can kill a human. not if you drink a littre of whiskey only cure
Jeremy Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 Tryed anti freeze on rats where there were pigs, the rats were going round with big smiles on there faces in the cold weather, get some decent poison and get the loft design right and don't leave any food about but mice will live on the pigeons droppings :'(
phillips Posted November 3, 2008 Report Posted November 3, 2008 ive always found flour is the trick on a trap they cant run of with it they sit there and lick and wam lights out history
