Guest Owen Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 I have never really trusted Vets. They are not usually anything like James Herriot and a lot of them are pretty useless at doing what we need. The one thing they are good at is making money. My relationship with Vets goes back 40 odd years and during that time I have kept a very wide variety of animals and birds. My policy has been to learn as much as I can and give my stock the best care I can. Over the last few years I have attended 4 microscope courses. So now I can identify problems myself before things get out of hand. I suppose the most important thing I've learned, is that a lot of these so called analysis of droppings done through the post is nothing but a con. A lot of the promises made are just nonsense. And I know of one place that finds yeast regularly and then charges the earth for the medication. When in fact the solution to the yeast problem is quite simple and cheap to treat. My advice to anybody with a serious interest in keeping their pigeons healthy, is to learn to do it yourself.
