Guest IB Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 You've a DEFRA local office close at hand Pete. Why not give them a call? http://www.yell.com/b/DEFRA+Natural+England-Government+Offices-Crewe-CW16GJ-2154161/index.html

Guest KING BILLY Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Cheers Ian, what are they likely to do/or not do? :-/ shut us down with bird flew ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Roland Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 The Vets at Retford do. libby@retford-poultry.freeserve.co.uk £50.
Guest IB Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Cheers Ian, what are they likely to do/or not do? :-/ I reckon that if its the local office, they will have facilities to receive and have birds euthanised for post mortem examination. You don't need to tell them anything, just phone and ask if they do it, and find out costs. If not, they may be able to recommend another lab. And don't make up your mind that you have 'disease x' ~ get it checked out.
leighton1984 Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 what's the point in sending to vet to tell you what you know ?

leighton1984 Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 pigeon men that are on the ball know more about racing pigeon than the vets.
greenlands Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Hi Pete,I might be totally wrong here mate ,if I am someone please put me right,I thought a blood test on the birds would sort your problem, also save a lot of cash. Lindsay

Lindsay.
Guest 67ghirl Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Years ago when we had problems in the loft with birds dying the local vet advised doing a PM. He said a 'newly deceased' one would be best so the illest looking one was put out of it's misery and the Vet sent it off for a PM. The result???? The pigeon had died of a broken neck!!!!!! Needless to say the Vet didn't charge us for the Report lol :-/
