kirky Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 hello all just wanted to pick your brians , this is my first time breeding have any of you experienced watery dropping by feeding to much homaform or G10 pellets cus i have ,some of my stock birds are just crapping 80%water and drinking loads all the chicks seem ok there droppings dont seem to bad could just do with a bit of advice . thanks ryan are your birds yearlings or older, homoform should not cause it but have not used the pellets only a good breeding mix, as pellets are a dry food it could be causeing them to drink more than thay need.

0pensaysme Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 I had a simular problem when i started a year ago. drinking a lot of water. I added 10ml of cider vinegar to a liter of water, given once a week. I think this helps to keep there crop clean. HTH
ryesway Posted February 18, 2009 Author Report Posted February 18, 2009 as once as there no underlying problems this should do the trick u could always try bisto heard that will thicken anything ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D corn flower is as good as owt mate ;D ;D ;D

peterpau Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Cider vinegar will rid thgem of e-coli and keep kanker at bay. I use it twice a week through breeding. I would think this worth a try or looking at worms and cocci.
Guest strapper Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 dont mean to alarm you but have you had the droppings tested? there could be a bit of canker in the birds or cocci/or even hexamita..i would say get them tested then know, guessing may cost you a few youngbirds if not sorted sooner rather then later...if they are clear all well and good but best to know. i hope they are clear and just a faze they are going through.
ryesway Posted February 18, 2009 Author Report Posted February 18, 2009 all birds were cocci wormed cankerd before i paired up

pjc Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 If i read this right Ryesway, you have changed you feed from hopper fed beans to a mixture of Homoform, G10's and a small seed mix? When did you change the feed? If you have just changed the feed once the eggs hatched then i'm not suprised the Oldbirds droppings have changed, if you were planning to change the feed you should have changed it gradualy before pairing. If i'm right i would put them back on there beans and feed the homoform and G10's as a supplement. Phil
DJ Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 even though youve treated for canker, cocci and worms i would still send a sample off to be tested and take it from there your birds sound well looked after so maybe its just down to the change of diet? i hope so good luck debbie
phillips Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 when you say the old birds are drinking loads of water are they emptying their drinker ? if so this is your problem, try putting 2 drinkers in the breeding section put garlic cloves in 1 and honey in the other hope this helps jason
greenlands Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Get yourself some Harkervit plus or some other sort of electrolye and put it in their water for a couple of days then every third day once the droppings have sorted theselves out.Lindsay C
