Good source of protein if you need it.

I don't give it to the birds but drink it myself.

Shop about for the best buy. Holland and Barrett occasionally do it for £12 for 980 grams.

Not sure whether the birds will prefer strawberry, vanilla or chocolate flavours.

The best to get is pure whey protein,, the problem is they are all in flavours.. but you can get the un flavoured ones online..

holland and barrett do have sales from time to time and it is then half price.. but vanilla is the choice..

lots use this for recovery after a hard race or to load them before a long race..

best of luck,,

Tesco's price takes some beating.

Yes I used it(never again). Used it very sparingly of course, and it still ruin my season. It iss very potent. Too much and you will soon have toxin poison. Yes it will clear (in time), but will end your race season.

Never touch the stuff now, is just to strong to use.

Most things can be cleansed from the blood or system. Toxin poisoning too included. Rest, a little linseed and barley etc. or whatever in 4 - 6 weeks.

This will clean your season up if over used it and that's a fact.

Why not grind grass up and feed that  :-/ Never seen a weak buffalo or bull etc. have you lol ;) ;D

Or algae, plankton, look at the power of Whales  :o

Their’ system can cope because it was intended. A cow chews 'Cud' etc. but has 8 stomachs. Nectar is great in quantities for speed… just look at the beats of a Humming Bird! Now that is why one should be feeding nectar lol!

May be as Kev has suggested, you've already had a yeast infection when you used brewers yeast. Vet advice is that you don't give yeast on top of yeast, you'll just make matters worse.

watch how you go here lads, i wouldnt say whey protein is designed for our feathered friends... not the human form anyway, not sure if any company sells specifically for pets.

being a competetive body builder i use all forms of powdered protein, pure whey isolate, whey and casein... all designed to release into the system at different time rates depending on how i diet/train.

now as with all supplements you get cheap crap, generally the cheaper lesser quality brands have you running to the 'bog' on more occasions so just beware if you do use on your pigeons i'm sure this could have the same effect.

click onto any website selling these products for athletes and the better quality ones imo are CNP, Met RX, BSN, Extreme Nutrition, etc....

trust me i've used cheap sh*te and it has the same effect on yer bum!

Goin back 45 years now but still remember experiments in biology class with two human enzymes rennin & pepsin to discover their actions on cows milk. We made curds & whey in the rennin one?

Bit that puzzles me with whey use in pigeons is whey is lactose-based and there's been threads on here explaining pigeons can't digest lactose because they don't have the equivalent human enzyme lactase to do it.

So how does whey benefit them, anyone know?

I agree with Wuldon.  If you was to use it with pigeons you wouldnt know what amount to give them and could give them the shits.  Personally I wouldnt bother,  they should get all the protein they need from a high protein mix or peanuts.  When I use protein drinks myself I would use it immediately before or after I go to the gym anyway,  especially with whey protein as it it absorbed really fast and is heavy on your kidneys,  then anything the body doesnt use comes out as waste which like Wundon as said can be pretty unpleasent.  TREAD CAREFULLY !
