To prevent it wear a mask whenever around the lofts, simple as really. Once you have it then the aircap does work, but i just opne up all outside doors (have a wire mesh inner doors) about 15 mins before i intend to enter the shed. I try to keep doors open as long as i can. New loft has a proper ventilation system operating 24/7, so should be even better.

If you are going to Blackpool get your blood tested, it shows if you are more susceptible than others to contracting PHL. Air caps do work but nothing is full proof, as some have said cut down the possibilities :-/

Some fanciers I have spoken to swear by the ionisers you wear round your neck :)

I have an ion wind purifier second hand if someone wants it and needs it .(FREE)

Strap is flimsy and i had to improvise to wear it by glueing strap back on (.cost me £28.00)

It is in good working order and batterys are new .

I have worn it a dozen times but to be honest ,i dont put a lot of faith in it ..I just wear the face mask .

It hangs around my neck and get,s in the way when cleaning out lofts and kennels ,so not worn it for 3 months

Were you interested Dovescote ?

NO PM,S PLEASE .

We got the blood test done at blackpool last year, and the results get sent to your home and my count was much higher than Duncans.

Yes well I had thought of that, but then again the lofts are all well aired so I reckon I have a good few years left in the lofts yet. ;D

Im Hoping to have it done this year at Blackpool - Not sure what to expect though result wise[/quote]

Got tested for the 1st time last year and was shocked when the result came through as I thought it wouldn't affect me. In fairness I did realise I was getting left behind the rest of the guys when climbing hills on the bike but just thought I wasn't training as hard as them.

Now never enter the loft without my aircap4 and loft coat, have been tested again and result is approx half the score it was and can now take my turn on the front when out on the bike ;)

I would advise everyone to get checked if not at Blackpool then get the test kit sent out to you at home  ;)

I didn't think mine would've been so high it was around 50 something, I'd have to find the letter to let you know just how it was.
