clayton moore Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 At the time a unique colony of Busschaerts. All based around the Corbett darks. The no 1 and 2 pairs Ben Madina had a lot of this family.Brilliant but for the failing health of George Turner. This particular colony lives on with Phil Ball of Romney Marshes. 01797 344751.
DAVE STOKES Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 Was talking to george turner last year at NFC marking ,been a mate of dads since childhood.
clayton moore Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 It has been a huge pleasure contributing to this wonderfull thread ive had a lovely trip down memory lane. After each name that comes up of the exponants of this fantastic family loads of memorys and anacdotes spring to mind. When you consider the influance these birds have had pure and crossed.I noticed an advert in the book this week of someone looking for a copy of the book Breeders digest. This book explains Georges methods of line breeding.
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 like i said i have two cocks grand children of superman which have bred winners from 130 miles to 487 miles , and these are a pied and a cheq would put a pic up of them both if i knew how to lol , but i also herd superman was not a pure busscheart , also one of the best people i know who had a great stud of direct busschearts and ripped the norwich fed apart with them in the 1970,s and 1980,s was colin harrison at the time i think with busschearts help he was one of the first in norwich to go on widowhood and with the busschearts he destroyed the norwich north road fed winning first and second fed most weeks ive been round his and he would put all his 3 year olds in the bin even if they had 6 or seven first feds thats how hard a task master he was and very much in front of the times , the only person to rival him was frank peruzzi with his super verheyes ,

I had brothers and sisters to them and they won right from their first race. He told me that when the Coatbridge guys discovered that he was winning these birds they organised bus trips to Monkton.

Novice Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 tam most of mcharrys came from P KITCHIN Harry Mc Harrie had birds from Peter Kitching----I believe they had been friends for years. He also had birds from JJ Horn and directs from George Busschaert. I was fortunate that my mentor was a gentleman called Bob Jamieson from Lochwhinnoch who had been a long term friend of Harry. Bob introduced me so I had as good as Harry had.
Guest ROCKYandRAMBO Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 yes colin harison had and raced well with the bushys but before them he raced and dominated the norwich area with willie mcalpines birds in fact i think he won every race one year with them the mcalpine birds are still in the norwich area and still winning thats a fact colin also brought in the noel decroit birds after the busschearts and won the first three young birds racers he competed in with them , colin was one of those fanciers who could get a fantail to win
T_T Posted February 28, 2010 Report Posted February 28, 2010 I was a good friend of Colin and both the wife and I stayed at his home on a few occasions. Pigeons always came before anything else and he once told me that if any pigeon that he raced did not appear in the first three to his loft by the end of the season, it would not be wintered. sadly I've only just heard that his wife Jean passed on around Christmas time. Frank Perruzi was another friend and cracking flyer, some competition between the two there.
