Guest Davy Fleming Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Understand where you are coming from Frank but probably most of these birds have a problem anyway in the fact they are lost in the first place. You will always get fanciers that care and the one that doesn't but unfortunately that is the society we live in so we just accept it . Unfortunately. Because it will never ever change . Same as at a club house on a frday night there are workers and there are the rest. However I respect your view mate
Guest Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 and most without ets rings on our club got 3 back from the stray center last week all in excellent condition and still with their ets rings on

Guest Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 personally i think you are brining back the sick and incapable to keep for next time yes me too and i cant understand why someone would put a stray in the stray center with a phone no on it it only costs 10p to call
cemetary Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 yes me too and i cant understand why someone would put a stray in the stray center with a phone no on it it only costs 10p to call If the person could phone the owner this would be a lot easier, either, for the fancier to go over and pick it up, maybe that person will be training birds that day not far from the person who has the bird in. Well done ferry1, your help is much appreciated by some fanciers,

Well done ferry1, your help is much appreciated by some fanciers, yes thats what i was thinking but it is happening i would rather just phone the no to get it away from me asap and not risk the bird mixing with potentialy sick birds in the stray center and spread it all over the place as davy says the strays are there 9 times out of ten because they are ill to start with not all but most

Dave barrie Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 i collected birds from davy last year for the north o scotland fed and the birds were in excellent condition, it was down to poor weather at the forth that these birds didnt return, most flyers were glad to have their y/birds back so after arniston i will be visiting davy again, he does a brilliant job for the birds.

Pleased that your example has shown this '9/10 strays are strays because they are sick' to be dangerous rubbish. Weather is such an unpredictable thing nowadays, and a big factor in birds not being able to get home. Being downed & out and about in the wild for a few days, they can pick things up, and they can become sick - because they have been strays (in the wild) not the other way about. That's why they need to go into isolation at home for a couple of days, just to watch them.

What a load of crap your saying about the strays being sick, utter crap, i had a bird from the stray centre last week, it was there for around a week to ten days, got the bird back, isolated her, next morning checked her droppings they were perfect, so what are you slavering about the birds being sick birds, How many a bird had came back from the stray centre, and the following year turned out to be one of the best guys bird in his loft as a yearling, i no a few, so talk sence IB.

Ive had quite a few back over the years and to be honest can remember any of any worth. most just went down againat some point. prefer to concentrate on the ones that come home themselfs and if that only a few so be it. At least i can depend on them
Guest Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 frank, people have done that down this way mate, put back in and went and won the race, not my way but it happens. yes ive heard this aswell but personaly i am not willing to take the chance with my birds but if some one else does it and my birds are in the same basket on a frid then iam wasting my time thats why we need all fanciers to do the right thing but we both know thats not going to happen some think that no,s are everything thats one of the reasons thease problems will continue and get worse a winner at all cost thats not for me

Try reading it again, and the thread with it. I didn't say that, others did, and like yourself, I voiced an opinion that what they put forward as fact, was wrong. But I didn't suffer from 'foot in mouth disease' disputing it.
maverick Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 Here we have a guy spending his time picking up birds to help them on there way to get home and fanciers moaning about it think yourselfs luck that ferry is helping the birds you should be thanking him not putting hurdles in his way
