jimbo54 Posted April 22, 2019 Report Posted April 22, 2019 Johnson baby shampoo, wet the pigeon with Luke warm water apply shampoo with shaving brush, rinse in basin of Luke warm water make sure u get all the shampoo off, the bird will be totally soaked, Dry with hair dryer, it takes 3 or 4 days before the natural oils return to the feather. I forgot to mention baby shampoo does not irritate their eyes.
andy Burgess Posted April 22, 2019 Report Posted April 22, 2019 i rescued a bird covered in oil , around 30 years ago. cleaned it up with "Swarfega" hand cleanser . took a few washes , but it cleaned up well enough to return to the North East of England from North Wales
