Guest strapper Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 best way to settle this would be to go to the guy and say listen we both got to live here, theres no use us at each others throats and causing each other grief. lets just have respect for each others hobby and maybe we can both enjoy it more.....then smack him one..lol only joking. try to be diplomatic with him as much as poss.
jock3 Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 i use to keep a harris hawk and red tail buzzard , in the same garden , my racers in the garden they use to stay well back from hawks and they still win

chris h Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 what john k has said it right.check if the hawk has a leg ring.also if you let your birds out they will get used to it.and the harris is teathered anyway so it wont get to your pigeons.cant you move your loft further from his house.if he doesnt hunt with it and he lets it go after your pigeons he is likely to loose the harris. did you have your pigeons there before he was there.

Guest peter.j Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 Don't let him bully you or predict to you what you should be doing my friend, If the loft is within your boundaries its got nothing to do with him even though u say its 5 ft from is house... Like i have said m8 Harris Hawks are notorious for screaming (food imprints) and if u mention to him your not happy with the screaming the hawk is making you will also make a official complaint to the environment office which in turn he will know they will make him get rid of the Harris hawk........ Mention it to him and see what feedback you get off him..... 98% sure he will lay off your case m8..........john no disrespect mate but your chatting crap you would have to be a very poor austringer to have a harris or red that screams and as most breeders wont let you take one till there hard penned [16 - 20weeks] the chance of you imprinting are very slim as for your 90% satement where do you find your figures i beg to differ...these two men have reached a compromise so why upset the apple cart as for the council favouring the pigeon fancier check the building regs as to the distance the loft should be from a dwelling house etc....pete

maxwell Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Four times i have had trouble with neighbours the first time i never even got the base down before the council came and started, so i decided to move and not have the hassle i got the base down in my new house council came id had enough so stood my ground won my case but the neighbour that complained went out of his way to frighten birds, i must say that the two places had small gardens and it was houses back to back. Then i went in shares with my mate and his neighbour complained and we had to take the loft down, this was not pigeon related it was all about the neighbours son being out bid on the property next to my mate although we took it all the way to the welsh office we still lost the case. So we both moved to where we live now and we aint got no neighbours lol. And thats just how i like it nothing worse than problems with neighbours but living in wild,s does bring other problems but thats another story.

Guest peter.j Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 john ive been a member on there for years as well as keeping hawks and pigeons etc perhaps you should follow your own advice and go on and find out that harris hawks and redtails are NON-INDIGENOUS[ie not native] not indigenous as you first said if as you say i should log on to the forum im already a member of take me to a thread on there that has harris r/reds for sale that havent been bred in seclusion and have been sold under 16 weeks and anybody who went on and said they wanted to imprint either of these breeds would get a roasting
