hi , i have been in and around pigeon's for allmost 50year's , as of yet , have never seen a bird with a fungal infection causeing the feather to rot , on the other hand i have seen the destruction that mite's can do , if any one can post a pic of this so called feather rot , it might clear a few thing's up . is it FEATHER ROT or DEPLUMEING MITE ?

just picking up on this DUNG TRAY'S , ? are you seeing mite's in the dung tray's or are they a black mite/tick , when gorged with blood , right at the root of the quill where it enter's the wing ?

if you are going to use anti-bios of any kind , i myself woulden't use potassium permanganate to sterilise the water , as it might have an adverse effect with any anti-bio that it is mixed with , you could squeeze half a grapefruit into the drinker this will have sterilising effect & aid the absorption rate in the gut to an anti-bio . even then it might be best to de - chlorinate the water / by letting it leeche off over-night or boil & let cool. chlorine kill's microbe's as it will anti-bios
