We had a chat room (linked up with Ross' site) but there were a few problems - not being able to verifiably use the same name as you do on here - thus it wasn't used too much. If there's enough consensus I'll look into creating/adding one.

If there's anything I can do to help let me know

Due to the nature of some of the posts and the way that the discussion is heading I'm going to lock this topic here. Due to the circumstances I also request that no further public posts are made on the subject.
-
Check out the rules and code of conduct, break them and what'll happen is discussed in the 'violations' topic on the same board. Anyhow I'm off to my bed - back to work in the morning - I'll lock this topic now until tomorrow when I'll reopen for if there are any more questions

Didnt realise it has dropped off the front page, I'll check the settings.

Happy New Year :) and all the best for 2009

I dont see any benefit to anyone if the Pigeonbasics Fund has more money in it than is necessary at any one time. Last year we donated over £1,000 to Pigeon Fanciers Medical Research for this very reason. The money is only any good if it is being used. Sitting on a bigger pot doesnt do anyone any good. Now as long as the fund has enough to cover a number of applications - giving us enough time to organise an auction if there are a flux of applications - I dont see any point in adding to the fund. Better would be to raise the money for all or in part another good cause to benefit pigeon fanciers. Anyhow, all of this is idle chat when no firm decisions have been made. I will post up as and when things happen.

When I read your posts on the matters I'll reply if I see fit. In the meantime check your PMs.

Chris I do have a life outside of Pigeonbasics, and the net, and simply wasnt online at the time to give an instant answer. Come on it was only 6 hours ago!! Other moderators didnt answer because they wont have known.
-
Yes very much so, this is exactly what the fund was setup for. I've had indirect contact from someone regarding this case, and have made all the information about our fund available to them.
-
Because I wasnt online at 6pm

The Fund has more money in it than at this time last year. I'll be putting it to the committee if we require an auction this year.

Mickie B Trophy 2008 Entries
Webmaster replied to Webmaster's topic in Novices, Beginners & Young Fanciers
Look guys lets not throw this out of proportion. The trophy will be back for Blackpool, where we'll present it to the net winner, if they're in attendance. Westie is a young lad, and while there has been some delay in getting the trophy back, doesnt deserve a witch hunt. I'll lock this topic now for tonight, because this isnt getting us anywhere. -
Devastating to hear of another loft being burnt down. If anyone knows Thompson Bros, please point them in the way of http://www.pigeonbasics.com/fund/ or can pick up an application form from the Blackpool show.

Merry Christmas everyone, hope you're as full of turkey, sprouts and roasties as I am

Theoretically I could read anyone's PMs, because they are stored as files on our web server and I have access to the server. But first of all, I dont and wont (unless I have no other option as described by other posters). There is no way for me to access anyone elses PMs through the site, I have access to my own and that is it. Now that said, if I were to PM 'Mr X', he then is quite able to copy that PM and send it to other people without my knowledge. Likewise I would be able to copy and send his PM to other people without his knowledge. I do not advocate this however because I do not think that it is correct to distribute personal communications, I simply wanted to state what is possible. -
Internet Explorer Security Alert
Webmaster replied to Webmaster's topic in Website News, Views & Computer Related Info
Yes it is malicious websites that take advantage of a bug in the Internet Explorer web browser. It would only be a problem if you visited one of these 'malicious' sites, but there again there is no sure way of telling if a site is malicious or not :-/ Emails are a different kettle of fish. You're probably safest using something like Gmail, Yahoo Mail or Hotmail, because they have anti-virus checkers built in, and actually wont let you download a file if they have detected it to being a virus. If you want an email client on your machine I'd recommend Thunderbird - its made by the same people as Firefox. -
I will be talking to the moderators, and likewise I will be talking to a number of members. Contentious issues are something people like to read and see and we let far more of them (pigeon related) run uninterrupted than any pigeon site I've been on or seen. Recent contentious issues have been about this site, and such false speculation will be removed and continue to be removed. We are here to talk pigeons, not talk about ourselves
-
I stopped your post as I will be stopping this one. There are perhaps 3 people who know what is going on in this instance, and the rest are merely speculating. The speculation is unnecessary. In fact I'll merge this with your other topic.
-
Endless speculation gets us no-where. The few that are stirring the pot may enjoy doing so, but deny any reasonable conclusion for far beyond its time.

I think grievances have had their airing on this topic now. Subsequent messages should be done through the PM system.

Webmaster replied to Webmaster's topic in Introductions & Member Messages
There were a couple of nominated members that were left out of the original Pool A/B polls because of their conduct on the site. As I have said numerous times before I'm not willing to issue statements when members are warned and banned so I shant be going into any details other than it was unfortunate timing that DoveScot got his warning between the two polls. And after excluding other members from the original for the very same reason I believe it was only right to do the same here. When I posted the first polls there were several members conduct being looked into however I felt it unfair to exclude them from the poll before a decision had been made. I apologise that I have not posted up anything regarding this sooner. I will close the topic/poll at 6pm Monday evening.
