The thing is i had three youngbirds from the same nest and the others were fine so it cant be in the family.Jimmy i made sure there was no light getting in for the birds to sit in,loft wasnt total darkness just so they could see slightly.

Very intresting thanks for that bruno, yes i was told fructose goes straight to the system for a quick pick me up.Does anyone give glucose/fructose before the birds going away to race, would it be any good for the birds.
-
Just done a quick search Fructose Also known as “fruit sugar”, fructose is roughly 50% sweeter than ordinary sugar, tastes wonderful, and does not raise blood sugar levels like table sugar. When taken in moderation, fructose can be taken by diabetics after first consulting with their physician. How do I substitute Fructose for table sugar in recipes? Fructose is derived from corn and is approximately 1.8 times sweeter than regular table sugar. Unfortunately we cannot supply an exact equivalency for substituting Fructose for table sugar. Experimentation will yield the best results, keeping in mind how much sweeter Fructose is. In general, if a recipe calls for 1 cup of sugar, a little over a 1/2 of a cup should be close. Sweeten to taste is the best advice! Fructose also provides the additional benefit of supplying fewer calories than table sugar.

Has anyone ever had a bird put on darkness but darkness never worked on that bird.I had a bird that was coming very well for me this year early on in the youngbird season, then he was last everyweek couldnt suss it until i picked him up and he only had three flights to go,the rest of the darkness team hadnt started. checked my natural youngbirds and he was on the same flights as them.

Twilight i was told, not darkened off totaly.Rose as for enjoying a bath ect i think the birds still enjoy a bath and a lay about in the sun on a weekend after the race, they are just locked away during the week when the birds are expected to train. The partnership are top flyers in my club.I once poped my head in there loft as the loft was closed down all birds were sitting 100% relaxed on there perches it even felt relaxing to me.
-
Shadow i have the drops from harkers also and found them no use at all.I done my birds with the drops and checked them a few days later and the birds still had lice.I done as it said 2 drops between the shoulders no good.

I may be a bit behind here but did we lose the old forum due to pigeon politics as there was lots of excellent info on there that has now been lost.

After having birds out for training once the birds are fed & watered darken the loft slightly so birds get 100% rest.I know a very good flyer in my club and after he has his birds out they are closed in and darkened off and left alone to relax.same as widowhood cocks some have curtains up.just wondered if anyone does this

hi speckled at this moment i have about 20 pair of stock but this year most will go as i want to bring my own in.I was given this and that to try from everywhere when i first started and need to have a good clear out now.The old cock is paired to another cock in the stock loft (very strange). Thanks again for the kind comments
