Going through various Stud Adverts and sales in our weekly pigeon paper it is disapointing to think of the well earned cash we work for being put down the drain on buying other peoples (Sh-te) Aged Stock Birds between 3-10 year olds which have bred nothing for them and they want to Off Load them.Come on if they were any good they would keep them or Doo the right thing in the best interest of our sport and Bin them.Remember there is 98% sh-te in every loft and to get to that age and off load we would be beter packing them in. :( If they were pre-potent they would never be for sale no matter what they tell you. :( I was in one of the top lofts in the West of Scotland yesterday namely Jim Cullen and there were pigeons that he could have quite easily sold between £200-£1000 but they were no good to Jim and were binned. :)

As long as you are not going( the above) it will be a better night. To the man who left his Homeland and got envolved in show racing.

With regards to Jimmys views floor dresings of any kind will not eradicate the problem. With over 4878 views we have a serious problem and i would refer you back to my previous post 84.I brought up the issue last year at a function and they thought i was daft. This year i tryed to educate but to no avail same guys who know everthing but common sense prevailed. :(

Forget about being( Lovely Pair) what age are they and how many have they bred to win or are left to race next year.

Ist Class meeting yesterday with spirits were very. The Special Dupilcation Race for Yearlings wil be Leicester 30th May and Wetherby 22nd August for the young birds and the money regardless of where we race from that day will be paid out. There will also be a couple of comeback races in between the National Races which looks good for 2009. :)

Derek if we end up with the East winds we had for six weeks will it really matter , as they ended up in the West anyway. As my auld granny always says it will come oot in the washing and be decided at the meeting. Take care ;)

Ideal West Route to the centre and on the line of flight would be:- St Boswells Hexam Sedbergh Chesterfield Derby Leicester Newbury Chale,Isle of Wight or Poole Lille or Falaise With a couple of combacks before Newbury and Poole might just work for us in the West and most of these race points have messing facilities and room fror Artics. :-/ :-/

Well with the number of pigeons left this season it surely would be worth while considering Old birds West and Young birds East never done them any harm 2008 and also go with the SNFC for our longest inland and Falaise longest.

We also have three from Blakes 2 @18ft and 1@16ft and would recomend them to anyone. The only problem you will have is the felt they use for the roof and the mastic sealing on the front doors.Apart from that you get what you pay for.

Alan Thanks for your kind words. With regards to King Billy he had also a First Class Season with 27 Fed Positions and 9 S.N.F.C Tickets and was runners up to ourselves for most of the Club Trophies. The difference between a good season and Dream season is you need a wee bit off Luck and the Wee man on your Shoulder.Lets not forget he was runners - up to the Greatest Flyers Scotland has ever produced Geordie &Wullie MaCaloney in season 2006&2007. ;)

Details of all 2008 Trophy Winners are on the Federation Mini Site ,and may we at this time thank Pigeon Basics for the use of their site over this season. Yours in Sport and on Belhalf of The Lanarkshire Federation. Thank you. Budgie :)

We have 9-13 and my only dissapointment was the late liberation. The decision should have been to liberate around the 10.00am mark to ensure all fanciers had a fair crack of the whip and in particular the West of Scotland. It worked fine in Alencon being liberated Mid Day which gave everbody a fair chance and the result proves same. :(

Paratyphoid (Salmo-nellosis) is rife in all Areas and raises its ugly head in the autumn and winter and when pigeons are under undue stress. The first signs are loss of condition and severe weight loss with the Dreaded one wing going down .Treat all birds with Parastop after the last race and 14 days prior to pairing up.After treatment disinfect lofts and Gas torch same to prevent any further infections which may still be dormant.Believe me you will not be disappointed and your results and returns will be vastly improved. With regards to vaccination i have taken this up directly with De-Weerd and there is Nothing on the market that comes close to Parastop as it prevents as well as cures.Fanciers blame all sorts of things Mice,Rats but the problems lie within the transporters and where we buy our pigeons.Good luck 2009 and as i said before try it before you nock- it. Budgie :(

First class product mix it with Redband/ crushed peanuts for human consumption and you will see a difference in both your results and the quality of the youngsters.
-
Loosing pigeons and bad trapping is all part of our great sport. The worst thing is knowing that you are not getting a fair crack of the whip liberating youngsters mid-day with again prevalling west winds and trying to beat the hours of darkness.

One good day does not make a summer.Location and the prevailing West wind is everthing and my choice would be Big George and Gareth Rankin for an outstanding Season yet again in the Greastest Club in the land the Scottish National Flying Club.
-
Lets go back just a wee bit further and surely the Greatest ever pigeon to fly into Scotland was the double Gold Award Winner the one and only Fortune Lady.Whats maybe more important is what have all the above Great Pigeons left and what impact are they now making in the S.N.F.C. only time will tell.

Tam You are quite right but what is the point in looking for Kilpatrick Grizzels if they cannot fly over the roof.Holiday is superb but now getting fed up.Will see you in the Doo Club on Saturday if your not working as i am choking for a decent pint and we have a lot of banter to catch up with.Sales on the Ref G grizzels for next year are almost complete and Jock The Lum is getting nane.
-
Alf dont worry about jumping pigeons to 260 miles we have done it and over the last 2 seasons have picked up over 20 S.N.F.C tickets.
-
We also declined but it was for a better cause to that wee Lassie Phoebe and we felt that we had to give from our best pair to raise some much needed funds.I agree with Dellboy changes will have to be made as the decisions made with the current officals are to the detrement and the well being of the Finest Club in The Land and our Forefathers would turn in their Graves.
-
We have a Grizzle Family and the Orignals all go back to Andra Deans of Bothwells Ref G which we purchased at his 1st Sale .They are no good for club racing but when the tough gets going and the velocities are below 1000 they come on.

For those of you who are lucky enough to be in the Lanarkshire Area today the Scottish National Flying Club 2008 Latebred Sale kicks of at 16.00pm in Newmains club rooms and it may be your only opportunity to obtain some of the very best in Scotland. If you are at the Bar ask for Tam Richardson who will buy you a pint.
