Do you know what size they are, as I'm going up to Muttleyland at the end of the month and have an empty car? Suppose what I'm trying to say is, if they are not too big and you can wait till then I might be able to help you.

Feed & Weed contains sulphate of iron in the sand, this stuff will kill the worms in the soil so can't imagine it will do the birds any good if they peck at the sand. But if you do use it,better wait until its well washed in by the rain until you let them back out. If its weeds that are the problem much safer to use a selective lawn weedkiller and wait till the rain has washed it in.

Came in today injured. Can anyone tell me where its from?

These drugs are they used for old birds or young birds? Might seem a daft qu but just thought I'd ask and curious to see where this is heading?
-
No need for that, the guy is only asking for some advice and by the sounds of it just paid good money for a test then been sold some of the products that the lab sells on its own label. Been there and got the t-shirt.Its not always easy to find a good pigeon vet in UK,depends on where you live and on the goodwill of your fellow members, thats where this site is invaluable most of the lads on here will go out of their way to help a fellow fancier. Perhaps thats something that we could do for the winter months, maybe put up a list of vets, labs etc.where the guys in different parts of the country can get their birds tested,if more birds going in the race baskets are healthy then surely there's less risk of our birds catching any diseases???!!!
-
Dont think Kevin Lawson raced his YB's last year, yet he won 2 NRCC races with them this season???!!!
-
Can you say who did the check on your birds? If its the same as we got you may have to try elsewhere to get a proper diagnosis?!
-
Afraid you are completely correct with that statement lenwadebob, there should be a way to stop some fanciers behaving like this with the public, maybe, like in rugby games 10 mins in the sin bin or a weeks suspension from racing might make them think before treating other people only trying to do them a good turn in this manner.Had it happen to myself a few times in the past and should have written their names in the pigeon papers to let others see what they are like.Sorry but I just might be doing this in future.

Are there any birds home yet?

So why did the SCC fail? Still think its a shame as it was the only organisation that didn't cost anything to join and gave the guys in the centre 3 races a year.Shame to see its now relegated to a duplicate race. My dad's still got the BHW front cover picture of Andrew Fleming's "Something Special" hanging up in his shed 3x top 10 SCC from the channel.Thats what the Combine meant to some of the small fanciers in our area.

Yes your right didn't Geordie Hunter & Son,Plean, win the Huntingdon race with the wind not in their favour?
-
Its a good idea Jock, just watch out when its a south wind from the shorter race points if you do get it off the ground. When it was last going all the shorter flying birds ended up in the north of Scotland from about 200+ miles, luckily for us their transporter brought them down and libbed them at the Forth Bridge the following week end.I think that was the last year it was organised, and our fed might have even voted against going with them after that.
-
Well done Mr.Pirie excellant result, the pigeon men in the north of Scotland are an inspiration to us all, they have all the odds stacked against them yet they continue to compete in the nats and win.

Re the marking stations - you or I dont have any idea what these poor birds may have been through before they got to Plymouth???!!! If you even put some of the no.'s up on here I'm sure some of the scots lads will soon tell you what race point they were liberated from, they have had a couple of difficult races these last few weeks, you might have some of the lucky ones???!!! Apparently some birds been reported on the Jersey Islands from Alencon so they never really got a good start, from what I got told the sea mist came in on them. Thanks for taking the time to look after them its much appreciated, hope they get back safely.

This race is not about distance but the wishes of some the Belgium people who asked the Scottish fanciers to use Ypres as a racepoint. Its about much more than just a pigeon race, sorry.
-
Davie Young Avonbridge,16,58 same bird was 56th last year from this race. Well done IB good yearling to do that.
-
Good luck to everyone, and thank you to the SNFC for all the hard work these last few weeks to make these races possible, especially the Ypres race, 400 last year 1400 this year, well done.Who else could have taken on the wishes of the Belgian people and made it a success when no one else seemed willing to take it on? Well Done and Good Luck to All.

This poor bird had no luck at all, as after escaping from a hawk attack at some time, and finding it difficult to fly not having many flights left on one wing, it got run over by a car just in front of me, no doubt not having the ability to get out of the way fast enough cost it its life, near Newnham, Glos. only yards from the river Severn.
