  7. Hoddom Flying Club, Ecclefechan are wishing to sell three young birds for urgently required club funds. Our dwindling membership means that the remaining members have greater costs and the fact that most are pensioners makes it harder. The members decided that it would be beneficial if the three SNFC winning members donated a young bird for auction which they generously decided to do. These young birds are not to be missed as you will see by pedigrees and performances. The sale will run from 5pm thursday the 25th feb to 9pm monday 1st march bids by pm to me. LOT1: J Dalgliesh, Ecclefechan A youngster son/daughter of Hoddom dynamo. 1st section 1st open SNFC Falaise 2009,2nd section 3rd open SNFC Falaise 2008,7th section 110th open SNFC Alencon and many club tickets, a real racing machine from a real pigeon man. 8. Owen, might no be that serious mate, in my experince sometimes young hens or overwieght can suffer with this especially first nest and usually fit again in day or so with no detrement to the rearing of youngsters.
  9. Ye have it quite regular and thats wot I out it down to
  10. At the end o the day bigda, if you live in the south yer no gan tae want marathon birds and most of us arent gan to move north to try marathon racing out. Horses for courses and o that. Respect to the boys who like the extra long stuff but havin never known anything else but 550 or so be the furthest then will have to stick to the middle distance Cheers for the blether
  11. Still makes handicap a minefield? velocities, distances, terrain, wind,BOP where do you stop?
  12. Yer bang on wae that, wot i thought was that you were going to want more by flingin in fatigue un that. The only prob i have wae that is the 430 mile bird might still have flown the 200 extra 5 secs faster than the 630 bird if your no taken fatigue in. If your 5secs slower then your 5secs slower.
  13. How are we gettin from 35mins tae 51. Am no calculating the figures, just wondered if your aplly a formula?
  14. are we saying 5 secs every mile bigda?
  15. when they are eating or at least picking in the nest box is the way i do it
  16. The birds in the loft shouldnt be registered for the race so shouldnt register on the pad?

Is it more water races that the distance man wants? Or is it that in winning an inland national the credit should be less? Or is it just that they shouldnt be called a national? or all three? Me personally like the lot, the more racin the better.

surely we are a club that can facilitate all our members needs. The inland races do pay for themselves and if thats wot the punter wants so be it. If yer a distance man then you enter the distance races and enjoy jmo.
  20. The pigeon can fly over the pad without actually landing on it but still be clocked happens quite often here specially with multiple drops!
  21. My pad is in the floor under the wood but in the corridor. Pigeon can land be clocked and fly back out. I Just wondered wot the fancy thought of this?
  22. I was 32Nd open and a bit pissed but never mind sent the cock back and he was 25Th open Falaise
  23. When you do the calculations regarding velocities and speed then it always looks poss but the few midday libs I can remember it just didny happen.
  24. Exactly mate
  25. Quite agree Hotrod. Thats why the race controller will have a big say and why us the fancier will just hope that the birds we have sent will be able to cope with lib times and weather be it good or bad. The point I was trying to make was that each fancier would like the scales to be tipped as much as poss in their favour. But there is nowt level in pigeon racing and nobody will completly agree on anything. Just love this sport.
