Sorry, but your statement is incorrect. The SHU is the NGB in most areas of Scotland. The RPRA is the NGB for some areas in Scotland. They are both only NGB for pigeon related matters. This is not a pigeon related matter. It is a National matter and that is the reason the Government Agencies are issuing directives. It will be a different Government Agency that fulfils the prosecution, but nevertheless, if a prosecution ensues your defence that the SHU instructed you will not "stand up". It would be wise to copy and paste the new information. This would give you at least "one leg to stand on" as they attempt to drop you on your ars3.

I have also heard that it doesn't affect our pigeons and I also agree that the chances are minimal, however, I think it is prudent to listen to what the RPRA are stating where they say it is still an offence. Copy and paste the information to safeguard yourself against prosecution if you are taken to task.

Did you also read the biosecurity measures? How do we stop our pigeons drinking from gutters or puddles where wild birds have been drinking? How do we stop our pigeons from rooting about the ground where wild birds have also been rooting about. The Agencies are being run by fools and idiots. First they tell us there is very little risk, but they are bringing in these measures to prevent the possibility of it spreading, if it does arrive. A week later they tell us it now does not affect pigeons or BOP. Is this pressure from the RSPB to ensure we let our pigeons out so the wild BOP can eat during the winter? Is this because our pigeons are expendable if it does arrive? The RPRA are stating that they have been told it is still an offence if our pigeons are allowed out. It is a poor reflection on our Government Agencies when they allow conflicting information to be released because this just causes confusion and brings their status into disrepute.

I would agree to this, but I know it most probably would not happen in my Club, let alone the Federation. I dare say it could be attempted to pass a Bye Law, but it would be far better if it came from the NGB as a requirement to comply with the Constitution. I very much doubt this would happen unless it was a government directive. Even if this was achieved, it would still require to be enforced at Club level and, again, I very much doubt that this would happen. My views are arrived at through my very short time of associating with pigeon fanciers. Let me reiterate, they are unable to agree on the colour of sh1t.

Young birds, like young animals, are susceptible to illness. Our own children go through a vaccination process into their teens to protect them from known problems. In my opinion, the reason that the causes and clinical signs are so varied is because when racing our YB's they are all mixing together and cross-infecting each other. Our prevention is null and void because it is not being carried out properly. How many of you know of someone who doesn't keep their vaccine refrigerated? What about those who retain the leftover vaccine for future use? Some use out of date vaccine and some do not vaccinate at all. Some prop up with routine use of antibiotics. In my opinion, the natural resilience to fight illness is not in some pigeons and they are therefore unable to pass it on to their YB's. Undoubtedly the stress from constant BOP attack does us no favours, but if the natural resilience is not there, then we are on a loser from the start. I have my views on the procedure to progress and to reverse this trend, but it will never happen because pigeon fanciers cannot agree on the colour of sh1t.

Proposed 700 Ml Racing Into Central Scotland .

This answers the problem I raised, if some tie in could be made. The other problems would not be unsurmountable if the preparation was correct. Will anyone post the preparation for complete novices like myself. -

Timing and miles on the wing will be a problem. These races are at an earlier time than our National races, so a specialist club may be needed to allow time on wing before sending with organisations from the south of England. There have been a lot of problems raised in this discussion, but problems do not mean it is an impossible task. You have to be aware of the problems to manage a work-round. I would be very interested in answers to the original questions regarding preparation for these events. This is where the coming together of ideas may bring resultant success. -
I'll phone Linda tomorrow, but I have not received an email and she has my addy.

Yes Roly, a computer is a computer is a computer, so it doesn't matter which one you use. Go to Benzing, download Pidexx and use it to enter the pigeons. Now, without a Benzing club system, how do you propose to send this information to the Benzing G2 clock?

Welcome to the site. -
Ryan, your club has an agreement not to use ETS, therefore nobody in your club will have a Benzing Club System. Your mate is offering you the use of the clock. If he is able to get your pigeons registered on the clock by the relevant clock setter in charge of his club's Benzing Club system, then there is no problem in you using it. Your only difficulty is whether the clock setter will register your pigeons. They need to know the ring number, colour and sex of the pigeons. They fill in these details on the computer using Benzing Pidexx. Once the details are loaded to the computer they connect your clock via the Club system and load your clock with the relevant information. They then return your clock with a copy of the Pidexx print out for supply to whichever organisation you are using the clock for, as well as your own copy. You are now up and away. Have fun with it. It is a great system and very easy to operate.

Without a Club system there is no facility to load the information onto your clock, so you do have to use a club system. Once the pigeons are entered onto your clock you are free to use the clock for training only. Prior to racing is a busy time for me since I have to register all club members' pigeons onto their clocks.
