Jabbing up against paratyphoid guarantees you next to nothing. The vaccine only immunises against a very small percentage of the 2000+ different avian strains. By all means get them tested for it if you feel your pigeons are under performing but don’t think for one minute that because you have jabbed you can then discount this disease for losses or poor performances. It doesn’t answer your question Vic but it shows what were fighting against.

How about allowing those that donate pigeons to the pigeonbasics fund (online auction) free advertising and charge an advertising fee for those that dont.

Rick If one of those STB's is the one I gave you when you started out I dont appreciate you selling it on. When I gave it to you it was on the understanding that if you no longer had any use for it you pass it on to a new starter. Do the right thing mate.

The pigeon will let you know if its ok to be trained, if its reluctant to fly leave it at home. You can also notice a pigeon flicking its wings when/if a flight is just bursting through and its finding it sore. I've never seen one blood quill in my pigeons, can you put a photo on here showing one of these blood quills (just to make sure were talking about the same thing). If you feel their feed could be something to do with it you could try adding a tablespoon of linseed to every 20oz of feed you give them, add 10% depurative to their feed and feed until they start leaving the barley.

I've raced/trained y/birds until the 8th is a third of the way up BUT didn't send any that were bald around the head/ears, that had lost the cover flights on their wings or 6th-7th-8th flight just pushing through. Heavy training will slow the moult down as will racing them sitting eggs.

Was this your first y/bird race steve? if it was dont make drastic changes on the strength of one race.

Tony if these measures did indeed stop my y/birds picking something up in the basket It'll be a chance I’m willing to take. There would always be next week, with ill y/birds there’d be no next week.

In one word tyson 'time'

My y/birds are left together at all times. I find that healthy y/birds are always busy in the loft, fighting for perches/territory, pinching nesting material of one another and the like. These are motivating themselves without any help by me. I will try a trick or two when the longer races come around, adding eggs to nests is a favourite of mine. Races under 150 mile I'll add popcorn maize to their feed at about 33%, races longer than 150miles I'll start to add safflower also.

My club/fed are this year allowing fanciers to put their pigeons in the same crate if they so wish. We have a Geraldy transporter and each crate has its own individual drinker. We're doing it as a trial to see if y/b/s hits those who's pigeons are not mixed with others.

There was a product named PLG, dont know if you can still get it.
