    K Index

If the forecast for the K Index cant be accurate then there's absolutely no point in taking heed of warnings. Be it good, bad or indifferent I'll carry on taking my chances.
  5. Give the pigeon access to a grit pot, half filled with oyster shell grit and a few pinches of seed. Rummaging through the grit will help clean its wattle.

  7. A man and a woman who had never met before, but who were both married to other people, found themselves assigned to the same sleeping room on a transcontinental train.Though initially embarrassed and uneasy over sharing a room, they were both very tired and fell asleep quickly, he in the upper berth and she in the lower. At 1 : 00 AM, the man leaned down and gently woke the woman saying, "Ma'am, I'm sorry to bother you, but would you be willing to reach into the closet to get me a second blanket? I'm awfully cold".'I have a better idea,' she replied 'Just for tonight let's pretend that we're married'' Wow! That's a great idea!' he exclaimed. 'Good,' she replied 'Get your own f*ing blanket.' After a moment of silence, he farted. The End.

    K Index

Supposedly the K Index was high this morning. I trained my youngsters from 45 mile and all home in good time even though they had to come through the last 20 mile of rain. Sorry but I cant take this K Index lark seriously.
  11. Basketed up my youngsters by candlelight this morning and it didn't get blown out once

    K Index

One would think if it affected a racing pigeons ability to home it would also affect migratory birds on their journeys. Have never come across anything to suggest this and am sure if the K Index had any influence on birds the boffins out there would've made us aware of it.
  21. 43/45 doing 41mph (North Rd), not quick enough I fear.
  22. Sending 45 to Huntingdon with the West Essex Fed.
  23. The West Essex Fed race out of Huntingdon which is 57 miles to me and around 65 miles to the Feds longest flyers. We chose Huntingdon not for the distance involved but for the fact that at this time of year there's no other liberations taking place between there and us at the home end, we get a clear run in other words.
  24. What a few of us are going to try next year is if one of us get it early (pre racing) the others will take a few of these sick y/birds and put them in with our own teams and try to induce the y/b/s into our own teams. The way we see it is if you cant beat it try and work with it. Good or bad idea?
  25. To me training is all about giving them confidence. Should mine encounter a dodgy race/toss they'll get rest till they're back to their normal self's followed by a short toss on a nice day which I call a sweetener. They'll just get the one of these then back up the road again.
