I lost the following birds on a training toss from wooley edge services , Yorkshire GBv09 37626 GB09v 37627 Thanks
-
Its over 7 hours since the last one came back
-
Thanks ill have a look for it, iv been training my birds over the last couple of weeks and they were flying into the loft no problem, since the cat attack they havent been out on a toss. Today i sent them 13 miles and only got 5 back and when they came back they looked scared and took ages to go into the loft, just been out now and the others still not back , quite bad really as i only had 12 birds to start with, could the cat attack be linked to them not coming back, they have done the same toss 3 times before with no problems

I have a problem with my neighbours cats they wonder into my garden all the time im fed up of chasing them off , tried water over them still didnt work . a cat had one pigeon last week but i managed to stop it been killed. havent seen cat since?? Im also up against a sparrow hawk that keeps coming and having a fly over the loft when the young birds are out. Have been told there is a plant that cats dont like anyone know what its called

It would be a better service if couriers linked up more but the way things are going at the moment they wont because of a few reasons. it has been tried and failed because of a few who want to rule the roost as such. It has been tried and failed there are some that work together but some that try to make things hard for others. If your willing to put in the hours and miles i wish you all the best of luck , but think before doing it its not easy as some people think, and this time of the year isnt too busy.

A common problem that pigeon couriers are finding is fanciers are making double bookings with other couriers to see who comes first, this is putting us out of our way and also costing us, with fuel prices rising every day we cannot afford to be traveling 100 miles and then to be told the pigeon has already been picked up. (This happened twice last week to us) Also will other couriers when they take bookings and say they will pick up on a day try and stick to the day or at least let the customer know where they stand, as this is causing the problem of double booking (comunication is the key), if you can not handle the work load then please dont just take bookings and let the customer down, its giving the good pigeon couriers a bad name. Also we have had various stories of fanciers paying couriers over the phone By Debit/credit card and then the birds not been picked up, and them not been able to contact them. if your sending birds either pay cash on collection or cash on delivery, after all its your hard earned money.

numpty i have heard you do a good job, good luck to you too
-
The charge wont change throughout the season it will still be £35 for up to 3 birds and £2 there after, and the service will still be the same , lets see how many couriers increase there charges over the next couple of months and lets see how many are still around in January. Im here to do it because i enjoy doing it and meeting all the good pigeon fanciers giving them the service i would expect myself. Good luck to all other couriers that are going on strong or just starting up. Time will tell

Its a fact its hard to only carry pigeons and not parcels but if thats what the customers now want then thats what they have to get , you loose customers by not giving them what they want you loose your business,

"when youer fuel bill comes in at monthly dates and the driver has to be paid you find you make or lose money i have always been amused that peaple think you have transport company youer loaded yes you can make money but most time youer breaking even or running loss now birds at 30for 4 is fine if say you have 5 deliverys within 100miles circle but how often does that happen"[/color] Well said Numpty, id say you get not alot of them within 50 miles
-
The only thing with taking parcels and pigeons is Pigeon fanciers dont like it ( what happens of a parcel falls onto a pigeon box) its a danger and could end up costing you alot of money in compensation,
-
Your right what you say you need alot of the work in a run to make it pay, some people think that prices are too steep, they couldnt be any lower the price of everything is going up Diesel, insurance, tax, people need to realise this. its not as easy as people think.

Alot of couriers work together to create a good service, but some refuse to do it, the reason so many courier companys go under is because they try to undercut everyone ,i set of last wednesday and didnt get back until Friday Two hotels later and 1300 miles i was back home, (For those who will comment on the pigeons been in the van that long - The pigeons were picked up and dropped off in order so only 1 pigeon spent the night in the van and it was transfered into a pannier and given food and water) MOST OF THE PIGEONS WERE STRAYS WITH NONE FANCIERS, SO PRIORITY WAS GIVEN, after working out how much i had spent on diesel, hotels and food there wasnt alot left and mine and Uk pigeon couriers are the same price £35 England, From £45 Scotland, others that advertise less must be making nothing, maybe thats why they dont stick around, and the ones that advertise at one price then charge another are out of order (only there to make extra money). All my customers were very happy and the work has piled in on recomendations alone. Any other company starting up must work along with other couriers in order to give the best service and to cause less confusion to customers, that is the only way the whole courier service will work. Get rid of the ones we know are bad and keep the good ones , any new companys starting up keep it good and you will sucseed, get the wrong name and you will fail. If you think its easy way of making money quick and easy then think again there is long hours, high miles and alot of paperwork

Yes i contacted them and they got them but they only offer young birds and i want some older stock birds, i got 10 from Joan duncan and they are top birds thats why i have decided to only keep this family
-
Im wanting some more of these birds and am trying to contact the original contact who i have been told is John Hodgson in Annon Scotland. Does anyone know if he still keeps these birds or any idea how i can contact him.

I had to pick up 2 birds fromthis company for a fancier in newcastle they had his birds for over a week and had no intention of taking it the rest of the way , they charged the customer a £30 handling fee , when i saw where the birds were kept i was discusted. I was told by a member of staff that the company was gone under and is ending the pigeon transportation.

The company in question is based in flint and advertised in the BHW
-
This is My dads (David Thornton) company and i helped him set the company up however he now runs uk pigeon couriers with Julie and i run pigeon force with my Julie. :

My policy is to put stray birds as a priority especially if it is a none fancier , On Thursday i was contacted by a fancier in Newcastle and told that another courier had picked his birds up nearly a week ago and still hadnt been delivered (if they were ever) and would i pick them up and take them to bristol. within a couple of hours i had set off for the company and at 2am i was in the reception area of the other company. (The company is 24hr) When i asked for the pigeons i was told that there would be a £30 handling fee. i was also told by staff that the company was going bankrupt and would no longer be carrying pigeons (thats the reason the pigeon may have never got there) I havnt seen much about it on here so it carnt comment on the surity of it The company quotes that it has full holding pens (The birds were infact kept in a Dark room in tatty boxes) I paid the handling fee for the customer and set off on my way, the pigeon was delivered within the next couple of hours. If that isnt reasurance that the customer comes first, nothing will ever change people on heres views on couriers - Were not all the same.
