  2. i have always got on with my neighbours, until now, next door has just built a 3 meter high breeze block wall right along the back of my loft, not worried about the wall but he then built a large barbicue against it right behind my loft and put a chimney on it, his garden lies lower than mine so the chimney is just about 3-4 feet below my loft and the smoke from it fills the loft as i have vents along the top, it also comes in the house, i told him about it and he said yes i noticed it going up to ur hut, but i cant put it anywhere else, i told him he could shift it to the middle of his garden, but he said it needs to be against the wall, so i told him we can settle it between our selves as this would be in his interest, as i told him he needs planning permission for a wall that high also as it is 3 meters and only 3 inches thick its against building regulations, he said its his property and he doesnt need permission, he hasnt used it lately, but it is still there,
  3. cant say the wifes washing has ever been messed up and its only about 3 meters away from the loft and the birds have to ffly over it to land on the loft,
  4. MOOKEES, acording to the book this breed is very rare in Britain, and is also known as the "NARROW TAIL SHAKER", and its last 3 flight feathers should be white,
  5. have u ever saw anything dropping from a batch of racing birds flying
  6. its not often pigeons drop their poo when flying, if they did it would make one lot of mess if u have 30-40 birds flying out, i never see anything dropping from them when flying.

most of those birds bought in for stock from dealers have never been out in the open, so are very hard to settle they just take off and thats usually the lasat u hear, as they dont have the sence to go into a loft. could be lucky, but very risky
  9. in my post i was mixed up with the indian and the exhibition, could the bird on the left of ur pic of garden fantails not be a cross of a indian and a garden, just looking at its tail,

  12. like the look of the first one
  13. indian fantails have a more large tail and their heads sit back on their necks, a garden fantail is just like an ordinary bird only with a fan tail ,

    hawk attaks

I was at CUPER on sunday at the under 13s football match and on the way home from CUPER to LEVEN we saw 6 hawks so plenty of them around, also in leven i take my dog down the beach and each morning looking over to silverburn, 2 are there every morning, with the crows chasing them, but i have noticed the crows dont get them to go away they just fly around,
  16. the scare crow water deterent is the best, u connect it up to ur outside tap and it works well, anything coming in its beam gets a good hose of water, cats dont come back twice,
  17. well cats are ok around the loft if ur birds are used to them, and if so dont see them keeping ur birds from coming down, if they do keep them from coming down then it must be frightening them, which could be more harmful than good,
  18. no problem, i wasnt sure as they have changed all their numbers, this one is on a letter i received from them last week along with my SQUILLS, so take it to be correct, dont use phone numbers much now with having pc now its all e-mail so have look up phone numbers now, all the best.
  19. yes its just because in ur first number u have 843436, the number i have is 843456
  20. 01206/843456, or 01206/842221
  21. agreeDOVEScot, I think this is what the members only forum really was meant for, but then youngsters are members also anyone can register and become a member so dont really see the point of that one, if it is possible to get one as u explain could be a possibility, but not sure u can, i agree sometimes in this world of 2 day parts of free speach as regarding culling etc is not so free, as it could cause problems, but i am sure the webmaster will be able to sort things out and if he says its ok for those disscusstions then good, and he will put the threads back on site, I have just put them into a ITEMS TO BE LOOKED INTO folder, they are not deleted as we are only taking precautions, and the webmaster will look into them,
  22. could agree with u on the derr one, as i dont know much about it, but i do know u just cant cull birds even carrion crows which are listed as vermin, how things stand with our pigeons and how we dispose of them is questionable, what is right and what would be wrong in the eyes of the RSPCA and the RSPB and the bird lovers and do gooders, its a tricky one, and thats why i think we should not make it public how we do it, my views maybe not right, but thats why we put posts etc into a folder for the webmaster to see, and if he decides its ok then he will put them back on, and that's fine by me, its only a safety measure until the webmaster comes on site,
  23. yes but to cull deer or even crows u need a permit
  24. I have had a read through this thread and feel it is not for the general public and yougsters to read so put it into the deleted folder for the webmaster to decide on,
  25. well done m8, not easy to get members to take the jobs nowadays, all the best for 2008
