i was taken up to see mr copeland a few years back by my friend, ian moody of the motherwell club.now retired from the sport.and mr copeland gifted me half a dozen birds.not one was rung,as he did not like killing them.but those birds, especially the white grizzles, have bred me many winners, and my hut is full of these bloodlines.hardy doos and hard to lose p.s i was shure that he said they were marriots not bricouxs

it seems to me that we are only worried about racepoints, when we should be worrying about the s.n.f.c,turning into a race convoyer only,it used to be if you won the national your bird was. the best bird in the race, that is now not the case,as a few of our lanarkshire members know to there cost, how has it come to the point that you can be first west section and not even win your club,i dont know but if the national does not adress this then the very fabric off the national is at risk, great birds will be lesser birds, its a shame that money is now top of the agenda,a possible first open might only be twentyth in the race

i've only ordered one doo from the sale

for non members of the national, can they keep paying ten pounds to fly in the inland nationals,or can they only do it for one year, and have to join the national the next year to compeat in any races.money seems to rule everything now.people waiting hoping that they might get one ready for the inland national, pay there tenner and with a bit of luck plunder the pools, and hope for a repeat performance next year,i hope we get back to one inland national next year
-
is the sale in the newmains club or at the dookit
-
seems to me that they dont have the race point for old birds, but are sending young birds to it,seems strange to me that they cant go to the same racepoints as the old birds
-
are they only selling there race team or will the stock birds be going as well. is it a compleat clearance sale, or just a reduction sale
-
used to use nemicide years ago that was a horse wormer, vet used to give you it in a syringe a white liquid
-

all the lanarkshise races are on the east coast the problem is when you get out a bit further if a bird is blown a hundred yards per mile to the east then it does not take long for them to be several miles offshore the stronger the wind the more this mutiplies, the longer the race the more fatigued the bird is and the harder to make shore,i cannot comprehend how hard this must be for young birds that have never seen the sea before, must be frightning
-
the reason for the losses are all of the above, but the reason the birds are not coming back or getting reported. is that the are all getting drowned in the sea, we are too far to the east when the prevaling wind is west, birds that get blown out to sea get too exausted to get back in, some get hit by waves that they cannot avoid,so my opinion is get in off the east coast

danny the only answer to the problems that we have,is to keep the birds in for a year as has been suggested before on this forum. if we all done this, the slaughter of perigrens would be legally massive, the r.s.p.b would sh** there pants if the pigeon fraternity would agree to this. hawks would die in there thousands, there would be no breeding at all next year, lord haw haws grouse and pheasant shoot would be cancelled,no birds at all in the bird sanctuarys for the twitchers to see, the damage to hawks would be huge it would take years for them to recover, and then we would have some say in what happens, with the threat of, if it ever comes to the levels that we are at now, then we will not hesitate to repeat this action again

the day they switched to digital t.v onwards seems to me to contribute to the problem because they boosted the power levels

i hold my hands up. it was my fault for the bad race on saturday, i was told that historically.the race that i pick to go to with my young birds always turns out to be a disaster. so i am to blame. i went to hermiston gate last tuesday for there first toss and lost twenty out of sixty nine. so i gave them a week off and took them to hermiston gate again, against all advice given, took all day and lost another two,so i took them to carnwath park to give them some confidence on thursday job done sent them to the race and lost twenty four out off forty five. so history does repeat itself. next year i will warn yous beforehand what race i will pick for my young birds. my profound appologies,my friends in sport
