Lanarkshire Fed Delegates Meeting
duncandoo replied to JohnQuinn's topic in Pigeon Politics, Rules & Regulations
you not over the k.f.c.tonight danny -
hi he had a garage at the side of the road converted into a dookit,it was ian moody that flew in the motherwell club that took me over but i knew at that time that he used to be a very good national flyer.the birds he gave me were all unrung and i still have a blue w/f cock he is at least thirteen years old because thats when i got him he is still fully fertile as there is a latebred in the hut from him i killed his hen at the end of last year as she was not fertile but they bred me two 1st section winners in the fed but it took him all year to take another hen, this cock and his hen would be free to a good home as he has no ring
-
i couldnt stand back and let someone else do the work, nobody else would do it right,i think you know what i mean
-
you know as well as me that one or two would soon multiply, old habits die hard
-
thanks guys i really dont know what i will do with my days, staring at an empty dookit gutted
-
dear fellow fanciers, after twenty six years i have decided to finish up for good.the pigeon lung has got too bad,i am gutted but my health comes first,my birds are falling too bits but the sooner the better.there is approx fifty young birds, and thirty plus old birds.i will arrange the sale with all details as soon as i can.the birds are all middle to distance, with the emphasis on the latter,no big pedigrees, just come and handle them yourself.main mix is strang of california, jean harrison, copeland of breech, with a few other good flyers brought in last year.i won the old bird averages last year in coatbridge s.c flying club,i think we have thirty two members.trophys won last year. lennon mem 1st bird eastbourn, scotrail cup 1st yearling eastbourn,d grieg cup bovingdon+eastbourn, collins watson christie trophy 1st bird ypres, hutton rose bowl eastbourn+ypres,j pollock cup three open races, old bird averages.no young bird trophys as i only send my young birds too one race i hope to have my sale in coatbridge club hut as soon as i know i will let you know
-
8.50 one from two sent my timer from ypres
-
how many races flown in the last two years have had a west wind.very few times and weather patterns are changing.i think we have to change also
-
the thing that has to be remembered is that when the lanarkshire went back down the west a few years ago,we changed it back to the east before the young bird racing.it was only because some of the BIG BOYS IN THE LANARKSHIRE,lost some old birds.not taken into account that the birds that were lost had not been down the west before, marlborough proves this to be true,if we are going to go down the west at any point in the future then we have to start at the young bird racing, and teach them the west route, you would have good racing with your yearlings the following year, but you would probably lose a few old birds that had not seen a west route
-
i fly with coatbridge s.c and the people i am talking about are christie bros and at the end of last year they had to kull birds because they had too many left, this was the first time in years because they flew midland.they are good flyers and yes they fly national
-
could any of the midland fed members, please answer me honestly, how your returns have been this season down the west.as all i have heard from former midland west coast boys is how bad the losses were and now they are with the lanarkshire, they have to cull birds as they have too many at the end of the season
-
i wish our fed would go to clermont, and get a true channel race
-
where is your fed at this week mate as the lanarkshire are at ypres with the snfc.two bites at the cherry
-
better taking them to elsrickle peter and get them thinking. twenty miles is not a hard ask,i would not contemplate starting my young birds under twenty miles
-
thanks old yellow
-
are the lanarkshire birds up at 8.45 then lads
-

-
can anyone help it came in yesterday.it is now in a basket,it is a blue pied hen.SU07L20124

i have dissolved the partnership of mr&mrs duncan and will now fly singly as robert duncan but i still am lumbered with the wife.i hope this season goes alright,or i will never hear the end of it
-

dr salmond was in my club, holytown f.c,for a few years until he moved to shotts,as it was the only place he could get that would let him fly doos. he had a lot of bother trying to buy a house with permission to fly doos, but i can say without doubt that the minister is one of the nicest people on the planet,he held the sheet up in the club every week but when he sent to the national you could not beat him.nice guy
