South Bristol is a hot bed of Pigeon Racing esp sprint and Knowle is the centre of that pigeon racing area. Over the last few seasons Mark Herbert has flown a real tidy pigeon in the WOESRC which sends upto 5000 birds, Mark has been in the top 20 loads in the last 2 seasons alone. Unfortunitly due to personnel problems Mark will be selling his pigeons with amediate effect, they are Janssen Van Den Bosch and are lovely Blue, BlueWFs Pencils and Cheqs. There are 20 pairs of racers and a handful of stock pigeons. Any pigeons that are purchased by Pigeon Basic members will be selected by me including matched pairs. Aad Van Berkel raced a grizzle called Silver Shadow, he was produced from a Van Loon Cock x a Tournier Grizzle hen that came from his uncle. A number of brothers to this pigeon is Silver Boy, Silver Man, Silver Bullet Silver Shadow 2 become champion racers and breeders also. Silver Shadow and Silver Bullet were sold to H Eijerkamp & Son and they marketed them as Silver Shadow Van Loons mainly as they crossed them with there own Van Loon family and so was born the name. Its funney the Gerritson birds in Holland are a little like Busschearts in the UK, they are not so well known outside of there country but they have been terrificaly successful in so many lofts in holland esp from hard 400 miles races as have Jan De Ruiter who had stock going back to Kadet and Benjimen, he was super on the longer 1 day flights esp on big races. In parts of Holland Meulemans are known as good hard 1 day Fond birds yet in the UK some fanciers say they are only speed machine, i think they are good alrounders myself.

Spencer Do chocolates possess any racer ability? ive only heard of one to my knowledge that has won on the road??? We have a couple of lines of Meulemans that win really well Gerriston Looyend and Jan De Ruiter but the chocolate birds have gone from these families, its interesting to note that they are smaller than they were 10 years ago aswell. I agree Ribble, Keith was a dear friend and someone who i had immense respect for, i dont know how i will feel when i get up there to auction them, one thing i know these birds are incredible and they will be such a good investment no matter what level of fancier you are. I know its an aweful time to sale them but that sistimatic of his untimely death, but when people digest what they truly are i dont think it will matter.
