    wanted tourniers

I can only do mid summer ybs in 09
  2. Hi Mate, i try and sex them when they are 30 days old, not always right mind. I have total belief in my birds but me and Raymond have to test as many birds as possible so that they can be offered with knowledge and confidence. Stuart P.S. i could do what most do, say they breed 40 and never lose a bird even though there lofts are 50 ft long
  3. Cheers Dovey
  4. Hi Mark I normally give my cocks around 5 races so in the last 3 weeks i normally only fly hens and a few that might be suspect. I do like to put the cocks over as soon as they finish and pair them up to settle them in a box, i also like to have them moulted out early as i think they winter better. Whiteflight, year on year i aim to reduce my stock pairs using there childrens results as a yard stick, but as of yet they are all breeding winners so they are staying until my family is built, remember last year was my first year so these are new pigeons, but i think you will find they arent doing too bad So 4 off each pair will give me 80. To add this year there are over 30 channel races up to Tarbes for my birds to compete in and with all best intensions you will lose pigeons, even good ones so from the 80 ybs i will hope to keep 50% which seems par for the course nowadays giving me plenty of quality birds to replenish my old bird team. One thing is for sure, if you keep sending them over the water you will lose a good number at some point so i need to keep those good quality ybs coming through and i think 80ybs gives me that facility. Stuart
  5. No way would i withdraw any offer as that would punish those who have worked the hardest, i just dont know where some people are coming from sometimes. Any way hopefully now there is a short list of nominees.
  6. Wht did i bother :-/
  7. Vic I would like this prize to go to the member that everyone believes have most benifitted this site, this year. We should be looking for the guys who most sum up the spirit of Pigeon Basics. Status, ability, experience etc doesnt come into it.
  8. 80 of which 40 (hens) will be placed on darkness. Stuart

  11. For me i would like to see Roland Sapper Fifer Dovescot Jimmy White IB Ally Mac Rose To start with and there are others that are always there. Its going to be a hard top 10 :-/
  12. In order to promote the site and its good members i would like to donate a £100 Raymond Moleveld voucher (to be used between June-October 2009) as a prize for the member voted the most Valuable Member of PB 2008. I would say that we are looking for the guy who has helped other members, posted informative information and followed the code of conduct and overall promoted Pigeon Basics in the way it should be. Maybe we could use this thread for nominations and then have a vote run by the webmaster leading up to New Year, please lets keep it sensible though. Regards Stuart Wilcox
  13. All this has to stop, this site is about Pigeons, showing and racing and all that goes with it. Rembrant2coo has been a good member of this site and it shouldnt be that he feels the need to leave. I think sometimes certain members use this site as a bullying ground and a bit of a game to have a go. Anyway i for one hope you stand up for yourself Rembrant and stick with the site.
  14. It seems everyone who had the birds so far are over the moon with them, thanks guys for your feedback and support.

    studs abroad

When i was a boy an old fancier told me that years ago Trumen Dickens, a rich local fancier bought a car just to train his pigeons,he demolished pigeon racing with his well trained team. Fanciers at the time remarked in rage that training was cheating and that it would finish the sport, as widowhood and ets they were all doing before long. Stuart
  16. Good honest people with good honest pigeons, your in good hands there. Stuart
  17. OK There was a Delbar Hen in the pen for £80 and it was clearly a show pigeon so i asked Mr Alphen did he cross this bird with a show pigeon and he said yes the bird was 80% show pigeon. So Joe61 theres the proof, but i will asked even though it wasnt displayed that way once asked he did say it was a show cross.
  18. They were good pigeons from Kozak, i had a dtr of his Poiters winner and she bred Champion 212 when paired to a cock from the great Bobby Adair of Cumbria. Albear to be honest most 7/8 and 9 year old stock pigeons that had to do nothing in there life would look pretty nice.
  19. I remember Derek Pedley telling me once, "every year i have fanciers knocking on my door telling me they have purchased birds from this man and that man and that they were all crap and could they buy some of mine" Derek said "why they leave i turn to my wife and say i will be that man next year and my birds will be crap to the next guy he visits"
  20. I think this is good, veiws from both sides of the fence, its a proper discussion, lets kept it going and it doesnt need to be personnel.
  21. Hi Bart Yes on the strength of there brothers and sisters performances pigeons have been put into the breeding loft but there children are raced and then they can be established as breeders or not.
  22. Your right rose good breeders dont always make good racers. We have a hen from 2005 she is a dtr of shady, we didnt think she had what it takes to make it as a breeder so was in line for the bin but we raised 4 ybs, i had two and Raymond had two. All 4 have raced with distingtion and now that hen looks a little different in our eyes thanks to the basket.
  23. Hi Albear yes there are some good guys and if you look at the shear size of investment put in by Frank Sheader, Premier Stud etc then they deserve there success and i know both of these guys pull there wieght. Racing is still king and its the pilar off success and i think it should be everyones priority. Stuart
  24. Of coarse there are people who dont race and breed winners and some of these show great expertese in what they do, but as a general rule racing families will be more reproductive than none racing families. Im not trying to draw a line here just a guide line. Another question, what does these none racing fanciers put back into our sport???
  25. Some one on this thread has something to hide and because i have posted something close to the truth he turns it into a joke. Raymond Moleveld won 1st National (All Holland) 37,239birds he timed at 4.40am a fair distance in front from Saint Vincent 666miles, bred the bird, his parents and even one of the g-parents, shove that tune up your jumper and play it. We fly with pride. Stuart Oh happier days
