  11. They can't see rings on doos in long grass !@#$$! $/*.! Aye it's illegal to shoot a racing pigeon £ 50 fine if proved.
  12. Few years ago I was handed rings retrieved from a pigeon shoot. One had a phone number. So decides to call .The Man was from canary wharf London and the pigeon was a four year old when shot . It went missing from fraserburgh race after winning the Dunbar race a few weeks before as a yearling. It never left the liberation site ! Wonder how many do the same ? Does prove some can live happily in the wild environment which they had to do since the beginning of time. It's there natural instinct to forage . Wild birds thrive in good years and perish in bad only the fit ones survive.
  13. I've seen many go feral . Living off what ever garden bird feeders the ferals take them to . And out to the country during harvest. I'd definitely say a good number live out their lifes this way .

  17. Had A hen lost from Newark race last year . Return this week Redest legs I've seen and not a mark on any of the feathering?
  18. I'd sadly say that measured distances from Race point to home loft are by all means a true guide to distance flown . But I often wonder how many miles flown out birds cover. Many who return in this condition. Have in all probability flown a nationa l! I not saying all birds. I've seen lost racers going to bird tables for weeks for a few grains the sparras drop.takes weeks of this kind of feeding to regain enough strength to return home . If they want to ! That is ?
