  7. usually bucktons hp last yr another un branded hp then add peas, wheat, barley, or all three depending on time of yr or races i want them for (the straights are from the farm). last yr local farmer sold 90% of his maples to versa-laga. i suppose they polished them and sold them back to us.
  8. never brought so called top of range expensive corn. use a basic mix and had to it what i think.(results prove how good corn is not what you pay for it) 24x 1sts this year so im happy. going off thead a bit though the question was about swainstons????? atb
  9. ANY ONE ORDERED FROM THIS SUPPLIER THEIR OWN BRAND OF CORN IF SO WHAT DID YOU HAVE AND WHAT DO YOU THINK OF IT :-/
  10. have caught dozens of mink in mk 4s and 6s for that matter the art is not having the tunnel too high when the trap is sprung.1 inch is plenty. would not use sand, its too light and dries out too quick and runs under pan, then it wont go off. use peat, or soil from a mole hill but rub it between your fingers to remove any lumps or stones that may fall under pan, pile soil on spring end of trap and move it across trap with small stick, perfect look and no soil under pan. this is the tried and trusted method used by keepers for years. lyndon
  11. I DID SAY DONT DO IT CLOSE TO A DISTANCE RACE. i once had a pigeon that only won holdovers,so guess what i basketed him on a thursday at home sent him fri and he won again on one day races, so suits some birds but not others. the only way is to try it. keep an eye on pigeons that come well from holdovers they are normally t he ones for the distance. just my observation lyndon
  12. favorites for this are rat mink stoat in that order set a mk 4 fenn under or along side outside of loft and keep it permanantly set you will be surprised what it picks up even when u dont expect it. but reset it weekly even if it has not gone off. ATB LYNDON
  13. never tried it in winter the nearer you can do it to the conditions for when there racing the better. not too close to the race thou. wouldnt put them under any stress if moulting. you could try it, mark down results of your findings then test you findings in the race basket next year.????? atb lyndon
  14. what size are they and where are u mate????
  15. jim biss once said to me only way for sure is to send it, i know if you put them in a basket for a few days those that loose weight and condition stand very little chance in at the distance. atb lyndon
  16. thats not bad going mate, used to do a lot of wiring when i was keeper, having up to 150 wires down in each set, thats when there were the numbers around. used to have long net flattened with them, and hands bleeding from chinning them. take it a lot easier now, still have good days with ferrets and nets, cant get better. except on sat when your waiting for that 1st bird.
  17. loads by me too, think there is more in town now than country, ive had 71 charlies in 14 months on 6 acres all in wires except one which i shot with 410 and that was at dinner time.wonder around like dogs. some have mange so have to wash terriers regular if we get one to ground. i take no chance of them getting in the lofts.
  18. davy, sent you pm. just thought if you or anyone near you is going to blackpool i can get some brought up there for you.
