  1. went to national memorial arboritum(alrewas staffs) where monuments are displayed to mark all sorts of organisations war/and civil always packed with people i think we should lobby rpra to have our own erected with the service pigeons did in the war, we give enough money away to charities (not that they are not deserving) but we should publisise ur selves more, this would educate thousands of visitors every year. :-/
  2. i supplement the feed when rearing with pheasant growers pellets,or layers pellets, high in protein easily digested and fed to youngsters. they take awhile to get used to them but readily take them after a while. i just put a pot of them in each nest box when laying/rearing, youngsters look great on them. they do come medicated for worms/coxi ect usually says on label called febenvet. but can also come with no additives. dont feed them when racing dont know why really would perhaps help fed on sun/mon after racing may try it next year. gamekeepers will have them march to sept normally for there birds. as i get them free dont know why i dont use more of them . atb lyndon

  4. totally agree but cant always be done in some places, or may cause more trouble than its worth. all the cats i meet seem to have used 9 lives. ;D
  5. farm supplies for fencing unit or e-bay, no probs with roof, screw insulators into roof and go round it with electric fence wire, they will only get a wack off it once they never forget, make sure the fence wire does not touch anything that is not insulated.(that includes any timber)or it will run to earth and not work correctly. i take it they are getting on roof from neighbours fence or other building, if not go round the entire loft with 3strands of fence wire,on plastic stakes 1st strand 6" off floor then 2 more at 6" above that thats 18" of fence you can just step over it, but you must keep grass short under fence or it will earth out again. if your not sure what i mean pm me your mobile i will send you pics of what i mean. atb lyndon

  16. hope he finds out who done this and gets them back, know exactly how he feels same happened to me last month. still hoping to find who it was I WANT MY PAYBACK. coul not put on here what i would like to say about this sort of scum
  17. a lot use straw / sand peronally i would use neither, staw hasto be very good or it will develop mildew and could cause probs for birds, also its hollow so can hide alsorts of nasties in it. sand is fine grit and pigeons sometimes eat it, that way disease can easily be spread, also sand if it becomes damp takes along time to dry out. just my thoughts and why i dont use them but may be wrong and talking out my a*se .
  18. used ossie loft was down 3 years great stuff then could not get it anymore, now gone to easy bed or alboise horse bedding. buy in a bale from farm stores saddlerys seems to be hold ing up well with no probs. regards lyndon
  19. that mouse is a young rat (no doubt)
  20. if them fens are not pickin them up but going off they need to be in tunnels. make some out of ply just a bit wider than the trap when set and 1" higher than the trap when its sprung, chances are if they are not in tunnels they can throw the prey clear as it closes. setting them in tunnels prevents this as well as preventing other things inc pigeons getting in them. rats are cautious of new things so may take a day or two to get used to them, place them on natural runs or along the side of shed they wont be able to resist them. never had cause to bait these traps you may just be enticing more. normal house bricks make good tunnels , place 6 on edge in rows opposite each other 3 either side then 6 more on top width ways. i will send you some pics of mine (when i get chance)that are always set dont have many rats about but birds near stables so get odd one especially when they have cut the corn, regards lyndon
  21. is that 10% oil to gallon of creosote or other way round? :-/
  22. done mine last year with coated tin sheets(sick if repairing leaks in felt).brilliant stuff. cost about £100 with fittings for 32ft loft. wouldnt touch asbestos(dont think its available anymore) besides health risk. that new unduline stuff is crap put some on field shelters for horses didnt last the winter. tin by far best ive found straight on top of felt gives extra proofing just in case you get a hole in tin. hope this helps
  23. what would you say ratio creosote to oil would be to prevent this happening ??? thanks
  24. sound like thats a job then, wonder if my girlfriends any good with a brush ;D
