The engels pigeons are a very successful family of pigeons, sprinters but a good cross for the middle distance birds, MTR fantastic fliers have been for years and very successful in the Teesside Federation and Up North Combine.
  2. CAN THEY BE REMOVED ONCE INSTALLED IN THE CHAMBER IF THEY GET DAMAGED?
  3. Cracking set up, great things come in little parcels, BIG is not always best! good luck
  4. Lets not condemn the person to death who's had it in they may not be fanciers, alot of people with doves in the garden get strays dropping in and some do stay. I remember as a young lad keeping my first pigeons in an orange box, these birds were caught in the town centre and 1 of them was a champion cos it had a ring on! now not knowing anything about racing we didnt report it but this pigeon was stolen by my friends and then stolen back by me thinking the ring made all the difference! colour of course was the main influence at that age bonnier the better!!! but in peoples defence more and more dont want to pay the £35 to get them back and skirt round wanting them disposing of so in whomever has had this pigeons defence if its in good nick good on them.

  6. Your right mate money is 75% of the job, when you consider some lofts are brick built, centrally heated, air conditioned, running water and then theres the stock ontop of that, best feed, best vets from all over the world all costs money and then the other side of the coin, wooden shed on an allotment, best birds the man can afford, best corn his pocket money can get him and still leave enough to actually send his birds. Money money money it can go along way to getting you success believe me!!
  7. I use the products and so do most in the area, its does what it says on the tin cracking gear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. did anyone get to the actual colour ??? cos i got lost!! lol
  9. They all looked well shaped and designed for the job. Cracking sale list and seeing what theyre through does make things more interesting. These birds definately look the business, well done.

    Meds

What is required, when its required. Main thing is source a good vet and stick to his advice
  11. I think its a good idea to start as early as possible on this system ie as youngbirds the earlier they learn the principle the better could help with the early races next year if theyve been doing it as youngsters. Just a thought

    ETS & the rules

Yep I fly in the UNC and our union the NEHU are putting rules together to govern the use of ETS in our area thats why i wondered how others put there rules together to cover both normal rubbered clocked birds and the electronic timing system. Has it caused any problems in clubs/feds already using it??
  14. I am aware some organisations are using the ETS systems already, would it be possible to send me a copy of your rules regarding the systems and how they fit in with others using STB, T3's etc. Thanks
  15. Just a quick note regarding Belgian rung birds, i had a youngster drop in recently and just in case it belonged local I contacted the nehu as i thought the bird cant of come that far and i was right it hadnt it belonged to a lad about 10 miles away. With so many belgian rung youngsters being brought back from markets etc it may be easier to contact the british ring offices first before contacting abroad, Just a thought it may save time and money!! cheers
  16. why is everyone supprised the last time I was at the vet I walked in the door £10, sat down £10 went into the surgery £20 the vet had a look at the little dog £15 and then he gave her 21 amoxcillan tablets £75 later and a full 20 mins that was that. Money for nowt, broad spectrum antibiotic cures most things, if anyone has kids at college and looking for a career get them into vetting!!!

    Fantail

The fantail in the picture isnt an Indian fantail its an exhibition tail mark fantail, the indian fantails have feathered feet and tufts on the top of their heads, also they are larger bodied than the exhibition type. Hope this helps, there are other threads regarding the same thing have a look.

    Using baby milk powder

I imagined baby milk to be a close copy to the natural milk produced by the female breast as possible, not sure they would add animals fats to baby milk but if they do they must be the easily digested fats arent they, if not could this have an effect on obesity later in life?

    Using baby milk powder

Thanks Steve ive never done it that way but will give it a go, just trying to avoid dehydration at all cost this year!!

    Using baby milk powder

Ive been using it this year but not in the water, ive been putting it on the corn, moistened with gemthepax and then a couple of teaspoon fulls mixed in. I havent put it in the water cos i want them to drink the water and anything that may deter them from drinking should be avoided
  24. This is going to be 1 of the most contraversial changes to racing pigeons in the uk for many years, and I for 1 can see both sides of the argument. How on earth can you make rules that will allow for 1 mans birds to have a rubber ring on its leg that needs to be removed, entered into a thimble and then timed into a clock, and another guys birds who dont need to have a rubber ring that needs removing just an electronic ring that is recorded on a computer that is held at the loft. Thats 1 point, another is if these are little micro chips in the rings then can they be cloned?? they manage to break into bank websites and accounts, they can even copy your chip on your credit card so can the electronic ring be cloned?? I think so!! But on the other hand it could help some people out, not sure who but some, people are quoting "it will help the disabled" but who do you class as disabled?? there are fanciers who time in now using the current system who are blind, in wheel chairs and various other disabilities who are enjoying their racing just as much as we do, and i have been told off 1 guy not to use him as an excuse!! so no doubt the debate will go on! But as an NEHU member I didnt think it had been passed for next year just that a group was being set up to investigate the changes required in the rules, but hey im only a member.
  25. Who ever sold you these birds is in bigger bother than you, what has he said about it? and has he stopped sellling birds out of his/her loft??
