Weird stuff!!!!

Thanks all, I am 100% sure that it isnt rats. For 1 thing there is no evidence and loft being way off the floor it would be difficult to say the least. In addition there is another hen sitting a nest on the floor and she is as calm as anything and she has eggs too so I would guess they would go too. Will keep an eye on things and see how it goes from here. -
Hi all, OK, so I went into my loft this morning to feed etc and the mother who has been sitting one of the nests on the floor was out and about so I moved the piece of wood protecting their nest to see who the father is and both eggs are gone. Not hatched or smashed but totally disappeared and all this after I watched one of the parents defending the nest yesterday. There is no sign of any intruders and little possibility of that anyway so where are me flippin eggs?!?!?! I can see where they may have been trodden on but to disappear completely? Would either the parents or any of the others eat eggs? Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi all, I have just put hens and cocks together and nest boxes are in etc. I have noticed that 2 sets of nestmates seem to be joining up together. I have been reading a lot of the info available on line breeding etc but as a newbie it doesnt make a whole lot of sense. So, my question is, do I break up these partnerships, will the eggs be affected if they go ahead....or on the flip side do other fanciers purposely put such a close relationship together. I have a long history in dog breeding and I regularly place father/daughter and mother/son pairings together but never brother/sister so this is why I am asking. Thanks in advance for any and all help

Thanks for the info OldYellow but I have plastic fronts here already and I have seen the stuff available from the suppliers. I just want to have a go at making some for myself. Thanks for any and all help

Hi all, As it's getting near to pairing up time, I have decided to make some nestboxes. I have made the actual boxes but I am having trouble making the fronts.Could anyone give me some idea of how to put a front together please. I am thinking of something quite basic, not up and over or anything fancy. Thanks for any and all help

May I please add that I would prefer not to have to pay for couriers if possible but I would be happy to deliver and fetch the birds to and from my swap pard so long as it isnt over far away. 50 - 60 miles each way would be fine. Thanks
-
New to me too but count me in please. Do the bred birds need pedigrees etc before they can be swapped, cuz if they do count me out again please.

Hi all, Ok so I guess I screwed up somewhere but I split my birds up into cocks and hens as advised. Failed miserably with sexing and photos are the result. Nests not noticed as I put boards up as suggested to catch the feathers and 1 nest is in cock section and 1 is in hens. Oh well, what is done is done. :)I will not be killing any of the survivors so preferably need to ring them so they can eventually be raced if they prove themselves. I have 1 ring left from this year and I need 3 or maybe more in next 5-10 days please. If any1 can help please post on here or pm me. On the plus side..they look like meeeeee !!!!!! Thanks for looking.

Hi all, I am looking for a ETS system as stated in title. It must be Unikon as our club only uses Unikon. I am preferably looking for a 2 pad system but its not vital. I only live 2 miles from their HQ in Lincs so I can buy from there but prefer to help out a fellow fancier if some1 is selling at the right time. Thanks for looking.

Hi all. Ok so all my birds are in their new home and the old one is pulled down and in bits in the garden. When and how would you all recommend teaching the birds to home to this loft? Don't want to lose any obviously so please feel free to give advice but preferably from experience. Thanks all !

Hi all, Just got to post a heartfelt "Thank You" to Chris, his Dad and his mate Steve for the awesome job they did today in putting up my new loft. They really went at it and have done a thoroughly professional job all round. So thank you very much guys.. I really appreciate what you did here.

Hi all, I was just wondering what to feed my birds now they are not training or racing? Should I keep them on YB food or put them on depurative to help keep the weight off or do they need fat through the winter? I got no idea...please help!! Thanks

Looking through cookbooks for a good pigeon pie recipe !!! Just kidding As it happens I am liking this thread cuz I have no idea what should be happening over winter. So keep the info coming please.

Hi all, Please excuse my well known ignorance again but I have 3 pairs of birds who regularly sit together sharing a perch. They seem to be doing a lot of grooming of each other and 1 pair appear to be feeding each other. I know they are old enough to pair as I have had eggs which came to nothing so should I be doing anything to help them as I have no nest boxes or anything yet..just a few box perches. Also if they were to lay more eggs now, should I send them to the last 2 races? Thanks all

Hi Chris, Re my pm this morning...I am leaving in about half an hour (11:15am)if what I mentioned is any good to you? Sorry if I seem to be rushing you but I only get 1 day a week off and this is it. Please let me know either way. Thanks Mandy

is it possible to jump y/bs from 110 to 253mls
FoxesFan4Ever replied to john short's topic in Ideas & Theories
Hi John, I know I am new to the game and probably not the person you want to answer but some of my birds were jumped 50 miles to 160 this week with no losses. Not the same scale I know but surely the principle is the same? A well experienced member of the club I joined told me that so long as my birds know 20 miles in all directions from their loft they will figure how to get home out themselves. They just maybe a bit slower at first is all. Hope I helped and good luck with them if you do let them go. -
Hi Chris, Have been trying to get in touch all day but just keep getting voicemail.I know you are busy but I have to head to work at 9 every night. I left msg on voicemail but no answer so if you have new phone or landline to call maybe you can pm it? Thanks Mandy
